Dave I still think some of your problems started with the MMR shortblock, mine had the same symptoms as yours just more blow-by then yours. I never really had power going to mine because of the excess blow-by pressurizing the crank case and blowing the front seal. When I pulled mine down the rings looked a lot like yours and there was so much piston side wall clearance I could actually rock the pistons in the bores. When I had everything re-ballanced for the new pistons I found out the crank was 78 grams out of balance. Hopefully when you get the new motor going all your troubles will be behind you.

Yeah SD that's exactly what my eye's did when my guy told me it was 78 grams from zero. He had to weld in weight to bring it back to zero.

Proof positive that you get what you pay for. Everyone wants to spend as little as possible on a shortblock and go with someone like MMR that has the absolute cheapest price.

I seem to remember "Ol Whatshisname" from here who built a few Teksid engines that were out of balance too.

Eric when I made my MMR purchase they had a good reputation and it was a choice between them and VT, money was not the deciding factor. I just didn't trust VT and it turned out I was at least correct about them. At the time I hadn't heard about Livernois and Boss330 was backed up for months.

Didn't mean to hijack your thread Dave sorry.

I still have not decided what to do here.....one thing I know...I only want to do it once...I can not afford to do this again this fast and I'm getting too old for this shit...my back is killing me...lol
18 hours I had turbo shit off, tranny out, intake off, motor out, and motor apart...I did have a younger feller helping...lol You know the song I aint as good as I used to be, but Im as good one time as I ever was...( but now my fuggin back is killing me...lol)

:sigh1:Hell I almost got a VT engine and went with a Larry H engine instead :kill:and thought I was lucky :shock:when all that stuff happened with VT.

As for back pain, I know all about that crap. A few years of wearing 96 pounds of body armor and ammo gifted me with that. I find though that the more I use my back and stay active with it the better it is for me.

Well I'm hoping I don't bust or rupture anything myself. Funny, I knew you were in the AF, but I didn't know you were a SP. I'm a MP.
