Ever since my oil change, what i fear is the notorious startup rattle has begun. But what is concerning me more is that im getting thrown a Intake Camshaft Over-Retardant code ( P0012 ) now is this something that is connected..? Or am i by chance needing to replace the solenoids... and the tensioner? Only threads i have found relating somewhat, speak about how timing can jump, which this code COULD be pulled from that? im going to reset in the morning.. but any advice, questions, or ideas.. much appreciated guys.

Cold start rattle + cam sensor code = Failed timing chain tensioner +/- broken chain guide.

If your engine has over 150k miles, you'll definitely need to replace the whole camshaft drive system on both sides. Other "while you're in there" parts you should replace are:

166k miles. One noticeable thing I am experiencing right now is loping at idle. Feels like i got a big ol cams in it. I just bought the VVT solenoid for the hell of it, and it hasnt seemingly done anything different, chain tension seems strong when i prodded it through the housing for the VVT solenoid gasket. Really unsure. Idle has a "bongo" like pop (maybe leaning towards a ping sound) that is inconsistent and definitely new after the code popping up.
