Data logging sct xcal2/laptop

Folks, I figured out how to datalog with my xcal2 and laptop. There are a ton of parameters to wade through--does anyone have a file with a comprehensive set of things to monitor? I just picked a few to make sure it was all working.

I'd like to review shift time if possible (how long is it taking me to row between gears and what is the rpm at shift and when it's in gear), spark, various temps, etc. I don't have a wide band so no air/fuel for now. Better yet, is there a website with some info about the types of things to track? I'm guessing stuff gets dumped into Excel for analysis...

The best way I've found to review shift time is with the gtech. If you get the one that's downloadable you can look at exactly how long things take by watching the graphs. That's where I figured out that some of my shifts were taking a full second from the time the acceleration stopped until it started again.With the SCT stuff you can dump the data to an Excel file, but if you have the freeware it displays it as a running chart. You can pick up to five parameters to display on a guage face as you run down the chart (see photo) but things get pretty crowded if you make a long recording. I haven't found a way to expand or zoom on a long graph.

Hmm, I'll have to see if I can get the test file I created loaded to play in the software like that. My gauges didn't do anything when I tried.

Regarding the gTech, are you talking the windshield mount version or gauge version?

I've got the windshield version.

You have to select which gauge shows what or they stay blank. Look around in there and you'll find it.

right click on the gauge and go to signals then pick what you want the gauge to display.
