Do you think it would be a prudent move to install a DS loop for a 400-450 whp car running R-comps?

Although I can't launch hard on the slicks, it's still a wicked combination of power and grip once I get the tires hot, to the point where I'm afraid of breaking something.

As an aside, I bought a set of R-comps last fall and had never used them on the car post-blower installation. This season I ran the first couple events on street tires and regretted the R-comp purchase because of the hassle of transporting them to the event and changing on site. Finally, I bolted on the R-comps this past weekend and all regret was gone about 12 seconds into my first run. This much power and grip with a modified suspension is just stupid fun. Absolutely the most enjoyable driving experience yet.

NO item of safety equipment could be considered a "stupid" purchase... Personally, with the amount of torque available with a blower (or even just a bolt-on motor!), especially when combined with the increased grip from high-end street tires or R-compounds will certainly warrant taking a peek at shaft retention. I run one, and when you think about the damage that shaft could do if it came apart at 130mph or so, the $50 or whatever it costs for a loop becomes a pretty cheap insurance policy.

SCARY VIDEO

Now, does anybody want to question the value of decent safety gear?

Any suggestions on where to get a hoop for a stock driveshaft?

I'm also now running R-comps with 445 flywheel HP and they are a "giggle".

I'm considering the Steeda DS loop that works with 1 or 2 piece shafts. It is more expensive that the competitors, but I'm partial to their stuff and it installs without having to drop the shaft.

Steeda.ca is right in your neigbourhood BTW, I order often from them. They are cheaper than importing parts from the US.

Well, there you go!! I would think that all the front loops would work, and the only rear loops that I know about (for one-piece shafts) are from BMR and CHE.

I saw that one but $250.65 was a long way from $50 so was wondering what the other alternatives were.

I am very familiar with Steeda in Milton and they are very familar with my credit card :)
