I'm following this thread closely as suspension mods are next on my list.I go back and forth daily on weather or not I want to lower my car.

I dont care about the 4x4 look as much as the ride quality or lack of.

I'm down an inch on the FRPP "P" springs (which are Eibachs). Ride was pretty acceptable and the bumpstops are 1.5 inches off the axle at rest.
Now with Tokico D specs on the car I like it even more. Still a hard hit on the rear wheels will take you into the Stiff range of the progressive springs, but in normal around town and playing in the twisties the ride is now quite good.... Better than stock, and better than 1" springs only on stock shocks.

I feel quite different. The ProKit I put on improved my ride. I have yet to hit a bumpstop, but maybe I'm just driving more carefully?? I would never expect a lowered car to get as good of a ride as stock, but in this case, its easy to see why its possible. The center coils of a Prokit are definitely softer than the straight rate of the stock spring and tigten up as you compress it. So, my low speed, small bumps are actually smoother now, but bigger bumps are a tighter. A good set of shocks are my next step, more than likely some Koni SA's. That will not exactly smooth the ride, but it will kill the "oscillation" of the spring...so there will be no flutter over bumps, just one solid bump.

I'd suggest those who are hitting the bump stops can go easy and cut the stops but a good shock is a smarter way to control the spring movement, and IMO, improve the ride...gives it that more buttoned down feel.

Anyone consider buying Ford Racing bump stops? They are for lowered cars and they're under $30 for all 4.

Try the FRPPs.My 07 rode fine with them. Now you have me thinking about what springs to put on the 11.

I'm on Sportlines, which is even more low, and I have no issues here. Sure it's a little bumpy, but I'm not bottoming out. It's probably your rims and tires. I had 20"s for 2 days, sold them right away. 3.2" sidewall compared to the 4" stock was too much at stock height. I cant imagine dropped.

I went from Pro-Kit to sportlines... My car is bouncier than ever on stock shocks. =|

If your going to lower a car and expect stock performance or better you need to upgrade the other components that matter as well.

Caster/Camber plates to put the alignment back in spec.

A good pair of adjustable Shocks/Struts designed for lowered ride height

An adjustable panhard bar to re-center the rear axle

Potentially a bump steer kit

And trailing arms with relocation brackets are a good idea as well

Lowering a car with out addressing the above is like putting on a supercharger with out addressing the fuel system.

Then the car will look good and handle very well.

I have more sidewall now with my GT4 18 inch rims and Nitto 305x45 drag radials than I had stock on my 19's. Thats not the problem. I put the stock springs back on. I couldnt stand it. I didnt drive the car for a month and a half because of the springs. Id rather a 4x4 look and still be able to drive the car.

.

Car doesnt have aftermarket CC plates and is in spec, I assure you.

Koni yellows and Fays2 Wattslink on the way.

PHB not needed unless you're going with wide rim and tire...and the WL addresses that.

Well I suppose if you have a watts link then yes your good on the panhard lol.

I haven't dropped mine yet so I was unsure of how easy it was going to be to get in spec. I guess only the 1" drop in the front still allows factory camber to be adjusted back into spec?

Do our stock strut mounts still break and clunk or has ford improved the design?

I like the way mine rides and drives better than stock. Only suspension parts not changed are the sway bars. I would definitely change the panhard to an adjustable. You would be amazed that is not perfect from the factory. I had to reduce the length of the panhard 1/4" to 3/8".

I'm dropped on k springs 1.5 and camber came in spec. I didn't use the camber bolts. Strut top mounts? I put the gt500 top mounts. no clunk. The rear clunking is a different story.

is there any springs anyone likes??

I like my Eibachs. I obviously don't have a 2011, but in relation to this, I can't imagine there is a huge difference. It's all about what fits you and how you like the car to feel. You can easily find 5 different opinons about the exact same spring on here.

man that sucks, your local to philly right? I can take you for a spin in my car which has Steeda Ultralites . I love the ride and the drop is just right.

This is SO true. I put my Steeda Ultralights in before I did my new wheels. They rode awesome! I couldn't tell any difference between them and stock ride wise, but what made them truly outstanding was that I have very little nose dive under hard braking and greatly reduced squat from a hard launch. Also, the car is much flatter tracking through high speed turns/corners.

After I went over to my new wheels, same OEM rubber, nothing changed. I've had three people in my car and it still rides great. Haven't hit the bumpstops once in the 900 miles since I installed them.

I personally think Ford should have gone with these springs as OEM. The only negative I have about them is I had to learn not to pull all the way into parking spaces anymore.
