So I lost my SCT CD and the usb cable for it. Im thinking of getting a tune from Brenspeed...will I need the CD? I have an SCT II and was told it will work fine for loading a new tune on my bullitt.

DO NOT DO IT! I just got done finally getting rid of the Brenspeed tune off my 07! I know all engines are different so it might work for you, but I highly suggest getting a professional dyno tune. Otherwise call Doug at Bama Chips! Does great work. Brenspeed does little to nothing as far as timing goes and in turn will either run rich or lean. I had problems from day 1 and was never satisfied with their tune. I went from 291 rwhp to 318 by switching to a Mike Murrillo tune (and added economy charge motion plates). But I imagine there are people that have really liked Brenspeed's tunes. Its just not me.

Just giving you fair warning. I am down here in Texas, and most of the guys in the local Stang groups, etc HATE Brenspeed for their lack of timing adjustment. Notorious for it. That being said you will need the USB cable so that you can load the emailed tune into the handheld. I suggest just calling SCT and ordering one, or finding a buddy to lend you his/hers.

I assume he is talking about the SCT cd that you use to load the software on your computer to monitor your tuning??? The tune should come over email I assume.

What is on the CD? The tune(s) and the transfer programs/drivers (that are available for download on the SCT intarwebsite)?

You can buy the usb cable you need at Radio Shack. You do not need to order it. Just make sure you get the right cable with the small square end on one side that will plug into the X-Cal and the regular usb plug on the other.

Bamachip's is the way to go for mail order tunes. He has tested about every cai on the market and has a tune for each. I highly suggest for the 93 octane race tune, you will not be dissapointed.

No you don't need the CD and the cable is just a regular USB to printer cable. You can get them anywhere. You will need the LiveLoad software form SCT if you don't already have it and you can down load it from there site.

my bama tune runs okay, except he couldn't fix the slow o2 codes. i took it to a local a tuner and he modified the bama tune and fixed it.

I never knew my car could run like it does until I got the Bama full race tune. the only thing I didn't like about it was tranny would not go into o/d under 48 mph. I called Doug and had him make another tune for the street, using the "full race tune" parameters so the tranny would behave like a stock tranny. now I have the best of both worlds.

kinda weird that no one here "likes" brenspeed tunes...ive always heard good things about their tune...either way im going to try a bama one and then a brenspeed on later and see wich one i like better.

I don't know your tuner but to my knowledge he wouldn't be able to access the Bama tune in your SCT without Dougs' permission, which I can't see Doug giving anyone. I have no doubt he corrected the problem but he did it with his own tune not the Bamachips tune.

this isn't correct. doug emailed me a tune for my PREDATOR, I downloaded to the tool and reflashed the computer. I tried several tunes from Doug, and none could fix the slow o2 codes. the last tune i tried still being flashed on the computer, and loaded on the predator, i took both to psi here in san antonio and he opened the tune file from the predator, modified it, and then we reflashed the computer again, and it's worked fine ever since. what the tuner actually did was turn off the diagnostics test for the front o2 sensors on start up, so it didn't really make any difference if the sensors were responing a little slow. he also maxed out the transport times for the sensors...on top of all that, i'll also point out that i only have shorties. i'm the only person i know of that was throwing slow o2 codes with shorties, but it's all good now.

there may have been some other changes in doug's tune also, i think he turned the heater wires on permanently for the o2's. i even sent doug's tune directly to diablosport, and they modified it and sent it back to me, and it still didn't work. i questioned diablosport about turning the heater wires on permanently, and they assured me it was no problem.

it seems that diablosport was only willing to do so much with the tune...it's my personal belief that they prefer to have local tuners fix the tune files since they shelled out the cash for the cmr software to be able to do all this stuff.

i also emailed doug about modifying the tune i'm using right now, to modify it for the hot rod cams and delete plates, which he has agreed to do. since this tune works he says he cans make adjustments for the cams and delete plates without touching to o2's and leave them as they are since they aren't throwing codes.
