evos are deffinatly not rice. simple bolt ons and they make crazy power. my buddy is seeing over 420awhp on a stock turbo with cams, exhaust, intake, and e85 running almost 11 seconds flat
Couldnt have said it better.... EVO's are no doubt nothing to over look at the track or on the street...
EVO's have only been in the US since 2008. "Older" ones aren't very old yet. But I agree.

Two engines... 400hp + at the wheels... one is a 4.6 V8... the other a 2.0 I4... which do you think is living under greater stress and more likely to fail do to said stresses? Hint... it's not the V8.

The big power I4's are cool but I'm not sold on longevity.

Huh? What the fuck are you talking about.....

??

I had an 03 evo 8 with 90k+ miles running 26lbs of boost and it took years of abuse and did not have any issues at all.

My bad, when I searched it I only got the 10th version info.

I love how some mustang owners are so misinformed about imports...
As a car enthusiast it is little embarassing.

Yeah it's easy to be uninformed about something you totally don't give a shit about...

Imports... I don't give a shit.

V8's will make the same or stronger power with a much lower level of stress on the internals. Or another ay to say it is the I4 must work a lot harder to match the V8. I don't see what's hard to follow here. Maybe I'm not conveying my thoughts very well.

I was present at a dyno day with a guy with a late model evo. It was a bolt on car and he made around 350 at the wheels.. I was impressed. My car made 290 at the wheels that day.

As for the dyno comments, there are a lot of places that have above ground dynos.

That is simply amazing that dude reacted fast enough to keep that car on the rack! Especially given he was at WOT when she broke loose.

I thought she was gonna roll over on the side.

Sorry... the Evo is rice. The only reason why "bolt-ons" make it put that much power out is due to the turbo already installed stock. I'm not concerned about how much power a vehicle has coming out of the factory; I look at its potential. And, an Evo maxed out is nowhere close to a Mustang maxed out.... sorry but it's true.

I concur. Some can make very impressive power, but I feel they are ephemeral, like catching lightning in a jar.

i think both the evo and mustang motors are pretty close when both are maxed out...jmo

btw, the evo x mr is junk. the sst cannot hold over 400hp, and modified transmissions are not much more than that without drivability problems

Love this quote!!!

Although, I bet my old "rice burner" could beat 80% of the cars on this site :) but it also cost more than 80%
