Did the search and learned quite a bit. Thanks to those that answer these posts you have help out others quite a lot.

Driving home from work leaving a light (car is not yet hot) I felt a more than usual firm shift from 1st to second and then the OD started to flash. Next light I noticed that the rpms climbed to near 4k before shifting to second so I pampered it home and parked it. It shifted ok in all the other gears but that might be I ain't done enough damage yet.

A lot of posts are made all over the internet calling the tranny toast but I am still holding out hope that I might have low fluid level. In my searches I discovered this site:

http://www.fordservoboretransmissionfixsolution.com/history.html

I don't see anything on this site about the product and I did some searching here and there and know to be cautious about quick or easy and even easy fixes.

I don't think I killed the transmission but you never know.

Has anyone here tried this product as a fix for that problem?

Solinoid, I ended up rebuilding a transmission due to the same problem. I got tired of trying to chase down what one was bad and draining it each and every time...

Shop said the fluid was full and not burnt. There were no codes recorded and they took it for a bit of a drive where we all know it did not repeat the behavior.

Will be looking into options of which way to go and who's products use.

I had that problem 2 years ago, I don't remember what part went bad, but the valve body needs to be removed to fix it. It 's not that big of a deal, i had the Dealer fix it. As far as that kit you linked, Ford also makes the same kit if you trash the trans and it needs a full rebuild, some times that kit is needed.

Had an F-250 with the 6.0L diesel and it would do the same thing, it was the temperature sensor in the transmission that went bad. It was telling the computer that the transmission was overheating so it was shifting hard to protect itself. Might want to see if that takes car of the problem.

Thanks for the responses, I will change out the plugs first and take it to a tuner who may or may not be able to work out the issues on his dyno and if that don't work we have someone to give a look at.

The car was fading at the upper end of the 1/4 and had a drop in mpg before the fault. We will see.
