At the track last night I'm behind this guy in a basically stock 197, he is behind a badass 68 camaro, we're in the right lane. in the left lane is a 197 GT500 that is supposed to be making 800 hp. I'm thinking "alright! going to get to see a good race. Well the camaro pulls up into the waster box and the GT500 just sits tight as to race the stock 197 with a few bolts and that is exactly what happened. Instead of racing some competition the guy in the GT 500 needed the "win" to feed that monster EGO. The funn y part about it is the "bolt on car" tree'd the shit out of the "500" and the "500" got sidways and didn't catch the "bolt on car" until maybe 50' from the finish line.

After I made my pass I went over and asked the guy in the "500" why he didn't race the camaro......I heard everything from him, except why he didn't race the camaro. After a few minutes of that I couldn't stop myself from saying "I think you were just scared of getting beat". OF course I said it with a smile, but everyone standing there caught the drift of the comment and laughed but not at the comment.

I hope my EGO never gets that big.

I 100% agree with you. I guess what confused me was, why not race something that would be some competition. I guess you just had to be there to see how it went down. I like a challenge and have gotten pretty consistent with >.05 R/T so I will race anyone, on more than one occasion I have beaten F/I 197s simply because I "tree'd" them but I would never let some competition go so I could race a slower car just to be sure of the win light.......just me though........lol

Same here. My first race in this car was against a 9 second Nova. I think I ran a 13.9ish. Oh well, I got to enjoy driving my car home.

and to the store and out of town and anywhere you wanted to. I don't know, the whole thing just stuck me as a bit EGOish.........lol.

I like to win, but not so bad that I only race inferior cars........ know what I mean

Win or lose I race for fun.

Just don't be racing in downtown Bunkie...........lol. Before I-49 was built that had to be the ticket capital of Louisiana........the only ticket I think my Dad ever got was in Bunkie, La.

I love to win and I HATE to loose, but I'll race anyone, I know my skills are minimal and I don't get bent out of shape about it, hell I've mostly lost all the races I've been in, its still fun though.

Haha, no I didn't mean you at all. I meant that even though I hate loosing I like to race more even if I loose, and I usually do as I don't get to do it much so my skills don't really improve much.

I know exactly what you're saying and I agree with you. However, I would rather lose a race on the track than win a race at the bench. I learned long ago - "There is always a faster car". :beerchug2:

Why try to hide what you meant. If you had something to say, say it with the intentions you meant to say it with instead of throwing out a "smile disclaimer". Might have helped put his "ego" in check.

I enjoy being the under dog. I'll race anything. Loose or win, keeping a positive attitude and not being a pussy about lining up against some monster will gain you respect. Whats the worst that can happen?? The car thats obviously more powerful will beat you?!?! And you might just get lucky and man handle him of the line (like that bolt on s197 did to that 800+ gt500) and come out a hero.

These are times where I am glad I don't have a penis. Among other reasons, but that's another story..........

Men always have to keep their "dick size" in check. Something that is a big part of their EGO. That "500" guy probably has a small penis, so he has his "fast" car to boost his confidence, and racing "slower" cars helps his penis grow. Hell, he probbaly sits and talks to it while sitting in the staging lanes......."We got this buddy, you and me.............it's all about you and me"

What a fucking douchebag!!!
