If this doesn't belong in tech feel free to move it, I cant ever dexide if my stuff belongs in tech or chit chat LOL ! I'm just trying to gather some info specifically regarding the new 5.0 Motor. Some of you may have seen my post about me considering a twin turbo setup on my car.. I have a 150 shot on it now, and the car is in the 10's however I'm tired of not having the power on tap all the time. It looks like there may be a bit of a wait for a turbo setup being that I would want to wait on Ken B's kit and I'm not sure I can stand to wait that long. So my question is how many of you guys are running blowers and making over 650 on pump gas ? What kit/brand setup do you have and how do you like it as far as drivability goes. I'm making almost 650 now with the spray, and don't want to drop several thousand bucks on a blower and make less power. I'm leanin towards a procharger or vortech but may also consider a kenne bell. Also how much boost are you guys having to make to get over 650 ? My car has pretty much all the bolt ons from the boss intake to long tubes to aluminum driveshaft etc..and I want to maximize my setup and if I do a blower I want to dang sure get te most for my $.

Also if anybody knows where to find the best deal please let me know.

Car made 605/655 on a 93 octane tune with only 900 psi bottle pressure. It made 639/667 on a race tune on fuel. Dyno was different days but the same dyno. I just used the almost 650 to say where the car was around power wise. Long story short I'm looking for 650 plus on pump gas and around 700 minimum on a race tune. Car has gone 10.96 @ 127 with a 1.59 60 ft on mt drag radials. I'm looking for low 10's before I upgrade the motor.

There are some PD kits that are good for 600 whp, look at vmp, evolution, and brenspeed (I'm sure there's others that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Also, search for wnt2gofst thread about his 713 whp auto coyote on stock block with procharger. I think he's pushing 10.5 psi

I made 713whp 538wtq with a paxton. Stock headers, off road x, boss intake. Car went 10.6's at 129-131 with a 1.54 60ft at 620whp. At 713 it has went 10.6-10.8's at 134 with 1.69-1.71 60fts in worse air(1000+da worse) and spinning on bald MT DR's. Nest air I ran in was at 620whp and da was 1800. Now average is 2900+.

Procharger was what I initially thought of, that way I could take advantage of the boss intake. If I remember correctly there were some coyote motors making big numbers with prochargers. I'd like to see how one would handle 15 + psi. Don't know how long it would last but I bet it would be fun LOL !

I'm running cold air kit, boss intake, long tubes, off road x, magnaflow cat back, aluminum ds, 3.73's, and the dope tune was done by Jim from JDM.

I have been running a stage 2 Procharger at 10psi on 93 and put down ~625 with a conservative tune. The one big thing you will miss when switching from Nitrous to a Centri blower is the torque.

Damn, thats pretty wicked. I've got pretty much same mods minus boss mani, lt's, and driveshaft. I'm lund tuned and I went 11.62@119 on a broken diff and slipping clutch banging the limiter in 4th(26in tire and 3.73 gear)@4200DA. I've since built the rear, put in a 3.55 gear and bumped to a 28in tire. THEN bent/broke a axle tube. Gonna get it fixed and put in a boss mani and accufab tb and go for my 10's at a better track.

Shew with the aluminator, I'd be dropping in the d1 or f1 and slinging it to 20lbs lol.

Eventually that is the plan but as of now my upgrade fund is mostly used up.

Haha, I feel ya on that. Aluminator is a nice chunk of change. That's what I'd ideally like to go with...But a set of rods and pistons, ARP fasteners, billet oil pump and boss valve springs seems like it'd hold up pretty well and be a little more easy on the wallet.

I actually got the aluminator for a pretty good deal and it comes with a 3/36 warranty. I have my old motor sitting in the garage that I am tempted to build up and use for something.

Did I miss something? You made 650rwhp with boltons and a 150 shot? I'm not trying to be mean but that sounds unrealistic, but I guess dyno's vary. I'm used to seeing bolt on 5.0's make around 420ish rwhp without nitrous. Good luck on whatever boost ya decide on!

I should have just said it made 639 hp with a race fuel tune spinning it to 7500. I will say the dyno may have been really friendly though, dont want anyone to think im bullshitting, but the tune on it was pretty far from a pump gas tune to get those numbers. I just want to put down in the neighborhood of 700 on a hot tune and run as close to the 9's as possible. I have plans to spray 200 on it A few times to see what it'll run before I make the switch to a different power adder. Going to run fun ford in Ennis in September and NMRA in Houston in November then do the switch I think. I want the car during the months that we actually have good air down here. It's usually hot as hell.

not sure how the wait on this is but I am following them awaiting some numbers and considering going this route and it sounds like it might be in your power range you want:
http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84103

"GT4202 mid frame turbo. Base turbo size to be determined. Same frame will house 64mm-91mm depending on HP goals. That's over a range of 1600hp without modifying the kit! Base turbo will be good for 700rwhp minimum"

Either way, good luck and keep us posted
