3V Fuel Guru
Okay so i decided to relocate my fpdm closer to the fuel pump and out of the trunk so it doesnt get damaged or wet as my vert top has been leaking water into the trunk. The second part of this will be a homeade fpdm wiring upgrade. I will be running a 8 gauge wire from a dedicated 12v source from either the underhood fuse panel or the sjb with a relay and 30amp fuse to the fpdm and then to the fuel pumps(dual supercar pumps).
This will be getting rid of about 4-5 feet of stock wiring as well as less wire length for the thicker power wire as the fpdm will be closer.
This is being done on a vert btw so it may differ a bit from a coupe.
First i started by seperating the fpdm supply wires from the wire loom leading into the car. It has one ground going right to the frame which i cut and will be grounding somewhere else in the car.
Removed the rear seats and continued removing the fpdm wiring.
At this point i went ahead and put the rest of the wiring back in the loom and unbolted the fpdm from the car (2 10mm bolts)
NOTE: the fpdm wiring connector ground had a rear light ground spliced to it so i cut it and attached it to the frame ground bolt.
With everything in the trunk all patched back up i moved back into the car and removed the side trim to find a spot to mount the fpdm.
The fpdm has a mounting bracket, i removed it (2 torx bit screws) It also has a locating tab so i cut it off so i could mount it flat.
Found a suitable spot to mount it where it would be out of the way behind the vert rear side speaker.
Mounted it to the inner framing using 2 self-tapping metal screws
Reinstalled the speaker and test fitted the the connector, fits in there perfect.
It started sprinkling so i had to put the top up and take a break. I will be updating soon after i shorten the wiring and find a good spot to reattach the ground.
