Save the FI 3V's!!!!!Save the FI 3V's!!!!!Save the FI 3V's!!!!!

I know how you feel. My car has gremlins. I should have left the motor stock at 10psi and been done with it. Reliable ran every day, easily driven without worry of anything.

Ive contemplated parting it out at least 6 times and even had the thread with all the parts typed up at one point. But the money is already spent. Just fix it, possibly detune it and enjoy it.

This is similar to what I am going through now except I know what caused my problems, FUCK MMR, just calm down and take a breath. You know how much you love the car and you have made it into one fine ride, don't do anything rash.

Oil was/is all over the car. The engine bay was soaked. About 50% of it hit the hood, the rest hit the ceiling. The pressure blew out the sensor plug in the passenger valve cover, and a geyser of oil shot out. What's wierd is the sensor harness itself was ripped off, but it was not damaged. It happened really fast!

I'm 99% sure now this will be a part out. I've got $40k in parts in this car. I could reasonably get $20k for all the parts, return it to stock (mostly) and sell it. That would pay off my F250, and leave me with quite a healthy downpayment on a new project.

When I melted mine last Oct ( fuel issues , lean , and melted shit) After it finally melted the piston enough it blew and pushed oit out at the same senor location .

Well sorry to hear about it . Will the builder not stand behind a brand new engine ?
Did you get any detonation on the dyno ?

You'd be suprised how busy the shops are here, even with the shitty economy. I don't think it will be a problem getting the big stuff sold locally. The smaller, easier to ship parts usually go fast here as well.

The car was not detonating, and I have no doubt on the engine warranty - they have a stellar reputation, but I don't expect them to repair something if it's not their fault. Won't know 100% what happened for a few days, but like I said, it doesn't look good.

Haha, I hear you. I am actually running my 3.4" pulley for this very reason since I destroyed my first timing cover. I am sure I'll want the extra power again though and will put the 2.95 back on but for now I'm happy to drive the car.

What a painful read. I'm really sorry to hear all this. I know how you feel, I almost walked away from mine a couple times. Also considered a fox body project.

Sorry to hear this, it's stuff like this that makes we want to get a built cobra instead of dumping this kind of money into my car. I need to learn to be haappy with 500rwhp but I know that won't happen.

It's okay guys, really. Parting it out will be way less stressful for me, a bunch of people are going to get some great deals, and I get to start something new. Everything happens for a reason, maybe my next project will be better.

sounds like a problem Livernois had a couple years ago with there car....I think they got it to 175 mph for a magazine article and blew the cam sensor out and oiled the tires.

Why were you back on the dyno? Didn't you have it tuned already?

This was the final retune with the new meter and ignition upgrade. We were looking for mid 600s with more focus on everyday driveability than peak power. SD07GT - thanks for the PM. You described exactly what happened here, we'll see when it's torn down, and I'll update you here.
