I went in for my fill up that you get from the dealer when you buy a new car, the guy pumped 87 octane, i had been pumping 93. My question is, is this ok for the car? I dont mind paying for the extra cents for 93, but the car is stock right now and i might pump 87 until i begin modding. Will it be ok???

Also will i be ok if i order a tune for 87 octane?

Thanks guys i appreciate any input on this

Um, the figures given for HP/TQ by Ford are on 93 octane. It will run fine on either 93 or 87, and anything inbetween. It will just have less power on 87.

the new 5.0 set up has a octane sensor (or knock is used i dont recall) that will add or remove timing depending on the fuel. so more oct more power

right in the owners manual it says that the car can use 87 but is recommended to use 91. I think i ask the question in one of the threads asking if we will get any power from using better fuel and everybody answer no. the car will just not pull timing if it sense better fuel, the only way to add timing is with a tune.

Thats not 100% correct.. with better octane the car will add timing to a point. =)

Going from 87 to 93, 10-12rwhp on the dyno.
Which the tuners are neglecting to mention... lol
