I thought the other forum had the correct connections...my mistake. When will the correct layout be made public?

I just reviewed the diagrams real quick a few minutes ago. It will still take me a few days to put it together into something presentable though. I will email you a copy when its done.

Alright ladies and germs, here they are the official Department Of Boost Vacuum line/PCV/Boost Signal hose routing/construction diagrams.

If you are experiencing any strange noises or running conditions try this setup. If done correctly it works great!

Big thanks to Matt T. for making these pretty!

I emailed larger copies to all people that have been shipped their manifolds. If you would like a copy emailed to you shoot me a request for one at [email protected].

Sweet pics!

Just a small question, does any of this change if you're using a 2012 blower + intake combo? My understanding was all thats different is the maf is on the other side of the intake tube.

Yeah, Matt is the man! He was kind enough to do them for me.:thumb2:

I haven’t had my hands on a 2012 blower yet but two customers have put them on and from the pics I have seen all the vacuum stuff is the same.

I just got off the phone with Stiegmeyer (they are an Eaton factory-authorized repair and rebuild facility) and they said that it doesn't matter if the bypass valve sees boost or not, IE all methods we have discussed are valid (T off of rear elbow to brake booster reference, ALA Roush, elbow to bypass direct (GT500 method) or Intake manifold boost / vac reference to bypass - all should work.

Alan is going to try doing it the DOB way this week and he will report back on the honking / howling.

Here is the video that was talked about. The start-up tune was not quite right, so the car did not run well, and once the ECU took over it ran much better, but this video does indeed highlight the honking / howling we are referring to.

The car is MUCH better now that it is tuned, but there is still a hint of howl at certain times when idling and at certain RPM's.

Hi DiMora,

Thanks for reporting back. I am glad that you received confirmation from a source you trust for the bypass valve seeing both a vacuum and boost signal.

PLee and myself just finished up his DOB install this afternoon. We installed the vacuum lines per the DOB's manufacturer's recommended instructions. Here is a video of it, please note that this is an UNTUNED DOB manifold installed Mustang.

I did not hear anything unusual that represented the howling/honking noise that you posted of the untuned Mustang from v6tungsten's car. This leads me to believe that something may not be installed correctly or there might be another issue.

I hope this helps.

Damn I cannot wait to drive this thing!!! :) Thanks again for all your help Matt and Jason!

FWIW, it sounded COMPLETELY different (i.e.- silent) when we had the 2010 stock GT500 intake tube/filter on the car.

Hope to get 'er tuned this week!!

Thats what mine sounds like at idol. I hear the slight howl. It will probably do it at 2200rpm as well. Im used to it now, it doesnt bother me.

Listen to any PD supercharger without a sileincer it will sound the same. There will be a little harmonics but that's due to the supercharger rotors moving air thought a metal case.

No, this howling / honking the DOB manifold makes is unique to DOB. Every supercharger setup is different; I have owned two myself, and this is my first exposure to a DOB.

More than one DOB user has the honking / howling. It is unique to the DOB manifold and not a function of the blower; if it was the blower, GT500's would howl / honk as well.

I do not mind it at all, in fact I think it is kind of neat and sinister. As I have stated before, I personally think it is due to the port where the bypass valve interfaces with the intake (like blowing air across the top of a beer bottle) but that is only a guess. The only way to prove that would be for Jason to chamfer the edges of the bypass valve port on a car that honks to see if it goes away.

All blowers have their own unique sound...some rattle, some whistle, some sound like loose ball bearings (TechCo), and it just so happens that DOB's honk on some cars. That is the price we pay for horsepower and unique mods sometimes.

...Just makes no sense why only one or two are doing this; I'm pretty convinced it's install-related, but just can't speculate as to what specifically it is. Obivously Jason has nothing to gain by producing a part that makes wierd noises lol, and he's doing everything he can to help. I just wish we could get all of the cars together in the same place lol!!

I do not quite understand how you can simply blame the manifold for the howling. There are 20+ other Mustangs with this setup that do not have howling. If it were the manifold logic would dictate that all of the manifolds would make a honking noise.

1 or 2 vehicles making a noise out of 20+ vehicles doesn't mean its the manifold. There are many other variables in the install of a S/C.

not sure what the other variables are except the manifold gaskets to the engine and gasket to the supercharger. On mine the vacuum lines have been replaces 3 times. It might be the quick connects for the lines as those are the same. but ive installed the Mustang V6 xcharger twice with no issues or leaks. Im not perfect but believe I installed everything correctly and have seen 23in vacuum on my gauge. I'd think if i had a leak i wouldnt see the 23in vacuum and to honking noise would be continuous. As you see from the video it only happened once in the 43 second idling video.

My car going is going in Tuesday for a leak test done with smoke. Also the honking on my car seem to be coming from the back of the supercharger were the bypass is located.

I could probably list 20-30 without much trouble. Its a complex system.

Also the honking on my car seem to be coming from the back of the supercharger were the bypass is located.

Hence my advice about verifying that the bypass is operating correctly or is not damaged. The bypass valve is a variable that could explain everything.

I’m not trying to get you worked up……..but it could be the blower itself. A friend of mine recently had his Whipple rebuilt because it was getting a little “loose” and it sounds completely different now. I doubt that is it in your case, but it is a possibility.

yea, your not getting me worked up. Im watching superchargers on ebay to buy a spare. I've also contacted stiegemeier to price a replacement bypass valve.

How do you
verifying that the bypass is operating correctly on a running car? the bypass is under the intake.

You can watch the lever that comes out of the bypass valve. It articulates the shaft that runs through the blower. It moves a LOT!:thumb:

I really want to help you work through this but diagnosing these sort of things without having the car right there in front of you is like shooting targets at 500 yards with a blindfold on. Sure you can get some lead downrange but at the end of the day your “sprayin and prayin”……and probably won’t hit a thing.

If you get to the point where you have eliminated everything that can be thought of ship me the manifold and I will put it on a car that doesn’t make any strange noises. If the manifold doesn’t change anything it wasn’t the issue. If the manifold does change something I will either rebuild or replace it. If the fault lies with the manifold I will cover shipping both ways.

If you can think of any other possible avenues to getting this sorted let me know. I’m all ears and willing to help.:thumb:

Wow, ^^^ ask KB to do that LOL!!! Or any manufacturer for that matter. How can you afford to do that with how cheap you are selling the manifold? I don't know your numbers but I know how much machine work runs and I doubt there is any profit at the sales price... You are too nice!

Don't think it is the manifold but good deeds do come back around tho...
