gt500 swap (finally pics)

Well as you all know I blew my engine with the turbo kit that I installed a couple of months ago. I started looking for a forged longblock and ended up finding a used gt500 engine for less than a forged longblock. I have an auto car and was told that my computer will be fine because the gt500 engine harness will plug into an 08 and above gt mustang. I was told the only problem to workout will be making the gt500 maf work because it has one before the supercharger and one after and the gt computer was not meant to control this setup. I also understand that the 5r55 isnt going to last long, when I deploy to afghanistan I will probably get a 4r70 to replace it with. Is there anything that you guys can suggest that I may not have thought of as far as the install. IE will it bolt up to my cross-member are the motor mounts the same. Is the AC compressor of my 4.6 the same as the gt500. Will my stock hood clear the supercharger?

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure your engine harness will not work with the GT500 motor, no matter what the year

Good luck

Maybe I was confusing about that. It comes with the engine harness. I was told that the gt500 harness would plug into my gt computer, if that makes since. Thanks for the info about boozshey

Ok I sold my turbo kit. I have a gt500 engine coming and will make it work with my autotrans, at least till I can afford a built 4r70. I am working with chris from Blow by racing, and he is being very helpful. We are gonna use the gt500 computer with a seperate trans control module. If anyone is interested I will document the build on here.

Should be fun although it will probably cost more than its worth. But its what I want to do.

Sorry about the blown motor, that sucks. But it opened door for this. This should be sweet. Sub'd.

You will like it ;) Talk to Bruce about the computer working, I think if you have the harness you should be ok as long as you have a tuner that can work with the computer. I remember reading a thread where someone did something similar...

you guys dont think a well built 5r55 will handle this setup. I dont plan on doing anything more than a tune and exhaust at least for a year or two, till momma forgets about all the money I am spending this go around.

I think it'll hold for a bit, unless you rag it out all the time like you stole the thing.

The 5r55's dont have a great track record, but I have never seen one paired up with a gt500 motor so i guess we are about to find out how it does. lol

I'd LOVE to see this come together.

GT500 and Auto FTW!!!! Please document this well. This is something that I would consider in the future.
