i am so excited for the tear down. i think i may do a tear down of my motor when i finish the new one just to see what that many miles did to it.

like it the next segment wasnt going to be equally impressive lol. as a chevy truck guy, the new ecoboost V6 is more of a match for the 6.0 but i realize that the 6.0 isnt the base engine. i guess that really shows how impressive the 3.5 is.

then again i dont think the ecoboost is the base f150 motor either, the 3.7 v6 is.

From what we have seen I would say that a measly 1800$ upgrade to the ecoboost is WELL worth it too.

Agreed! My wife is going to need a full size truck with her new job. She doesn't HAVE to get it for another six months or so. But I'll be heavily leaning towards her getting this F150 Ecoboost. Hell, if it's able to do all of that, then the things we would do with it should see it lasting 250k easy. The hardest thing she would do with it is pull an 8500lb trailer two times a month for about 30 miles each way and then our boat only weighs 3500lbs or so.

But the modding and still getting damned good gas mileage for a truck is what will be really cool about it!

With that motor having 400+lbs of torque, I don't think they would put it in the V6 'Stang unless they dropped the power output. Hell, with that kinda torque plus 350HP, it would run damned near the same numbers as a stock 5.0 with minimal mods done to it.

The motor I can see definitely lasting 250k, hell I have a old 96 explorer with a 4.0 that I have abused, towed way more than I was supposed to and it has 215k miles on it.
I can't wait to see the mod potential for this thing.

I didn't buy a 2011 5.0 because I am waiting on an ECOboost mustang. I have two Mustang SVO's and would love to have another factory turbo mustang. Forced induction vehicles always repond to mods better than NA vehicles. I see modded ECOboost mustangs giving the 5.0's hell shortly after being released. Ford will have to up the ante somehow for the V8 guys so they don't cry foul.
