How many have moved Procharger MAF Location?

I'm having a heck of a time with my intercooler mounted maf. It's a pmas hpx. I think that a standing wave forms at higher boost levels.

I've read of others changing the location to the throttle body tube. I've also seen older procharger setups that came like this from the factory.

If you have changed the location please chime in. I'd like to know what you were running for a pulley and boost too.

Thanks,
Bruce

That's the problem. It isn't in a tube. It's located in the intercooler tank near the exit. I've been able to get a maf xfer that works up to about 60#'s of airflow and then it's real nonlinear. If I compare it to a paxton I once had configured as a blow through in a 3" tube this set up has 1.7x the range.

Ah, sorry. Meant how big is the tube you're looking at putting it in.
Room to put it in the tube that is in the tube that exits the tank?

The only feasible place to put it is in the tube that goes to the tb. I believe it starts as a 3.5". It's not ideal by any means. There just isn't a good straight section of tube. I think I'll try to make up a honeycomb air straightener to put in the air path.

I'm going to see if I can get a few pics.

There is a good reason I don't put them in the cooler lol. I've got some kung fu that would work for you. 100 bucks to ease your woes? Lol

I may of just stumbled onto a tune solution. A google search turned up others having this problem at right around the same airflow as I'm having it. There may be a hard limit with the spanish oak processor. Advantage had autoscaled for me with a message about airflow limits when I first did the base tune but I didn't listen (to what I read, lol). Anyhow, there is at least one other person who has used a rescale to work around this.

Too bad I don't have a dyno in the garage to try it out. Wot pulls are useless anywhere else because this thing just boils the tires.

I'm lost.. so far I have seen ATI move the damn thing 3 times and in the intercooler is said to be the last and "best" place to have it.

here is mine..

The other was moved up closer to the TB and then most for the last 3 years+ was kicked down to the cooler.. This is one of the reasons with the big ass pipe its been hard to tune.. its still rough when cold...

Air come in from you left hand? No much time to straighten out before hitting the maf. I could fix that one as well.

They count on linear flow being forced against the tank as it leaves.

It works great for driveability. The combination of hpx meter and tank location results in about the same maf xfer as a 4" tube. Lots of high end resolution. Over 170#s of airflow at 5v.

An after market sensor doesn't really make it read any different. It just extends the range of the harware. Can you send me a data log? I'll take a look and if your maf signal sucks I can fix it.

Thanks for the offer. I'm getting some remote help already. This forum is great.

Mine is an 06 Procharger HO kit with the MAF in the 3.5 tube. I have never had an issue with my tunes till the stocker was done. I then switched to a PMAX and have had no issues I am aware of.
