Ok, I weighed the stock fuel tank---no pumps or gas of course, just the tank. 35Lbs exactly.

If you go with a fuel cell and get rid of the stock tank, and the entire evap system, that could be some weight savings.

2010 GT500 wheels
Front 19x9.5 255/40/19 = 57LBS
Rear 19x9.5 285/35/19= 63LBS
Wow you can get alot of street wheel tires setup that are in the 275/285 range that weigh in a 50#'s or so.

I wonder how much more a 2011 with the Brembo brakes/big wheels/new motor weighs??

One of the things that made the gt500 a pig was wheels/tires/brakes/heavy motor

I hope that doesn't happen too much with the new GTs.

The 2011 Mustang GT curb weight is 3,603lbs(from Ford 2011 GT spec sheet on TMS), and if the magazine's 2010 GT curb weight of 3570-3580lbs holds true, that's only 20-30lbs more than the 2010 GT, very impressive for having the addition of DOHC, a 6 speed transmission, and bigger brakes.

That's cool to know, I wonder how much the new larger stock GT brakes add in weight if at all.

Hi guys I'm new here. Matt you seem like the man here with all the weight reduction. I found some items that can help with shedding weight there from MMR. modular mustang racing
The first item is:
MMR Carbon Fiber Transmission tunnel and it saves a little over 75lbs

The second Item is
MMR Carbon Fiber Dashboard and it saves a little over 70lbs

do you have manual brakes yet?

Welcome :newbie:
MMR = Fail though. Not too much of their stuff I'd trust to put on my car. Although it seems like it would be very hard to screw up a trans tunnel.

I don't know about that I have never bought from MMR but transmission tunnel I don't they can mess that up. I have two Ideas

One is swap the tranny out for a c4. C4 is about 25lbs lighter than the stockers. It's easy to build up, its cost effective and with some weight reduction internals you can save more weight. I have a friend who had a stock C4 weighted in at 109lbs and after buying aluminum drums and other internals the C4 weighted 98lbs. Most people I hear who have stock tranny and switch to c4 pickup about three tenths at the strip.

Idea number two this one is not too much of a weight saving if anything you gain about 8 pounds. swap the aluminum 4.6 block for a 5.4 aluminum block. Yes your going to need to swap the intake manifold as well but it's worth it. This is if you want a lot of power. You can do a big bore and end up with a 5.8 and you can even stroke it. The custom made crankshaft actually saves weight.

I know these are hardcore ideas but I know they work.

also Moroso Axle Back Performance Exhaust kit weighs 20 pounds less than stock.

MMR Radiator Reservoir removal/relocation kit I don't know how much it saves but I know it does, has anyone have experience with this one?

Manley Titanium Valve Spring Retainers they are half the weight of the original ones.
