I know theres a few threads on how streetable blown cars are but im honestly trying to hear from people with 700+ rwhp cars and how streetable or how often or easy they are to drive on the street. Kinda at a crossroads with my car where its either make it primarily a track car (something ive always said i never want) or just sell/ part it and pick up a stock 10-12 gt500. I def understand and dont plan to use my gt as a dd or anything just want something i could jump in and take for a cruise and not be a nightmare cause if i do keep the car the plan at the moment is cage, skinny kid wing, 4 in cowl.

sorry for the rant, just trying to make the right decision as the cars really snowballed alot...

Mine is right on the cusp of being inconvenient to drive on the streets. Now granted the things I have a gripe with may be tune related. And I am going to a different tuner next week to see if he has any better luck than the person who's tune is currently on it. So only time will tell... But if the next tune attempt doesn't yield better results, it may end up being my secondary driver instead of my daily driver.

and just like you, I always said I would rather have a fast street car instead of a slow race car. And it is pretty much "right at" that cross road

yeah just figure once the cage goes in and stuff like that the street times going to be limited plus with running it on e85 makes it kinda a pita as only a few stations around sell it so the plan was to get a couple drums of it but im obviously then limited to the distance a tank will last. just nice days driving the truck are starting to suck and would be nice to have a decent mustang to for dates and stuff and not have girl looking at me like im retarded....

My is no longer my DD. But not because of anything really to do with the car. The only difference in my car now from when it was stock is cold start. It is alittle hard to start cold, mainly tune related and the fact I run E85 now.

Also the limited gas stations that carry E85 in my area is another limiting factor as of why it is not a DD. I think most of you guys would be very surprised as of how well the street manners are with this car. Two 55 gallon drums full of E98, good to go for many weekends in the future.

Yea... a few people have tried to get me to go down that E85 road. If availability were not an issue I am still not exactly sure I would do it. Shit... I only get about 9 mpg as it is on a gas tune!

As far as the cage is concerned. That's why they make swing outs. Take them out when you are not at the track and the cage has little impact on comfort. Mine is more of an actual drive-ability concern / issue than a comfort concern / issue. 700+ rwhp tends to be a bit finicky at low speed low RPM inner city driving.

well your guys cars are giving me more faith in mine. i think the major concern is reliability not that i doubt the part or our installing them just seems once you start making decent hp it starts to be one thing after another.

and as mentioned the noise is another concern as i dont want to get a bunch of crap from cops for having a fast car even when driving normal

Very streetable, if I could keep my foot out of it, it would deliver reasonable gas milage. Noise was a concern, as was drawing unwanted attention from law enforcement. I ran 1 3/4" Kooks & catted X pipe, ( N.J. is an inspection state ), through the stock mufflers. It's a lot quieter than a most of stuff I cruise with...& if I need noise, just put the foot down.

I'm probably in the 550 range and the only 'problem' I have is the rear end kicking out rather easily. The LEOS around here don't like that, even just a little kick when the posi locks in, and I've been stopped for a conversation a couple of times. That's a 12 point (as in 'lost license') ticket. I just drove the car from CO to SC and got 22.5 MPG

when running 700rwhp on the street how do you get it to hook . a 500 rwhp car lighten and weighted in the right spots would be just as fast and have no driving problems imo

I built my 2011 to be a fast and very streetable car. With bolt on's and a Vortech SC it recently ran 10.35 at 133, then the next day I drove it 250 miles one way to a chassis shop where is is getting a custom 6pt chrome moly roll bar. On the highway traveling 65~70 I averaged 21.5 mpg on the way up.

2011+ don't count lol. They get that amount of power with just a supercharger. :)

Same issue here. Drivability issue is tune related and reliability is also a concern. If we can get the low rpm dialed in for stop and go traffic my car would be perfect.

Everyone will have a different threshold for driveability. For me 599rwhp with a Whipple took too much concentration and slow stoplight takeoffs to drive in town and still enjoy it.

I'm at 570 with a Paxton now and street manners are fantastic. The way a centri builds boost in a linear fashion with rpm makes it easy to drive in town imo. The downside is you have to think about rpms for boost because just putting the pedal down won't bring the power on like a Whipple will.
