I am not efficent in this tranny stuff either. My RWTQ= 480,are you saying i am better off with a 3000 stall or 4000 stall??

Well, I think that a 2600-2800 true stall, ie; on 550-600 ft/lbs flywheel torque would be awesome...better have the right tires...LOL!!! like I said I'm no specialist, looking around the web I found all sort of info, some good some not so good, take the time to send an e-mail to [email protected] the guys has been active on other forums pertaining to 4r70w and seems pretty cool, all his inputs I found were good and made a lot of sense, there is also Precision Industry (PI), I have nothing to do with both of them, You need to discuss with a reputable converter manufacturer your goals and expectations, hope that helps...
Cheers

Trans swap

I got one from the recommendation of Mark (ChevyKiller). I installed a electric boost gauge and it works so much better than the mechanical one. But still in 1st gear I get 4psi and it drops down to 1psi. 2nd gear shoots right up to 10psi and then hits 12psi. No matter what RPM its at in 2nd gear when I stomp the gas it goes to 10psi. This leads me to believe its NOT the converter. I think its in the tune. Ill datalog the run in first and 2nd gear later and post the results.

Hey Paul, did you find a split second hesitation when you used the trans break,i did, then again i was trying it out in my underground parking & launching at 2500-3000 rpm,the car was upto temp, but i don't think the trans temp was upto temp!

My car leaves right off the button. No problems there. Just the lag from not having full boost in 1st gear. That should be fixed on Jan 17 when I go to JDM for a retune.

I still don't understand what a tune has to do with boost?? can somebody please explain that?

to my understanding a tune will get your car to run better, efficient, and to make more power.

A car will make boost with a good tune or with a bad tune.

I originally thought it was the converter. I told Len what was going on with it and he said it needed to be retuned.
This is exactly what is going on with the boost.
CALLING ANY TUNERS OUT THERE
Sometimes when stepping on it in 2nd gear, most of the times after making a slight turn off of a highway, it will not have any boost until 4500 and then it will take off. Other times it will have instant boost. This lead me to believe that it might not be the TC.
In first gear when I take off it will give me around 8psi and then it will cut back to like 4psi, when I shift to 2nd it will give me 10psi, and most of the time around 4500 I will get a small hesitation, boost will drop to 5psi and then it will spike up to 13psi. 3rd gear is fine.
My MPH gauge is off by 1/2. Ill be going 60 and it will read 30mph.
