I had a Spyder shaft on my 06 w/ 4.10s and 26.4" tire, never a vibration up to about 130-135

sees the 410 gears and alum d/s's do not play well together.

I've experienced the same thing all the way back to my fox years. I had 4.30's in one of my '03 Cobras and, and 4.10's in a lot of my foxes, and it was always an issue. I was clocking and swapping out driveshafts all the time trying to find the best one.

Lucky!

Does anyone know why these use the adaptor plate? Why couldn't they design them to bolt right to the diff like the factory shaft? Doesn't make any sense to me. I installed my DSS shaft a couple weeks ago. I'm not 100% satisfied. I do have a little vibe up around 100. But I've got 4.10's which dramatically increases shaft speed, and I don't drive around at a 100 anyway, it's really minimal, so it's really not a big deal. I'll take the weight savings.
They needed more space for "plunge". The adapter allows the bump at the rear of the CV to work with the OEM pinion flange. That gives the CV move room to lengthen and shorten as the diff moves up and down.

They would have to design a new pinion flange to allow the same amount of fore&aft movement. Also, many people don't want to mess with the pinion flange.

I've noticed some vibration above 125mph with my DSS.

So if everyone has vibration with DSS, why dont more people use Shaftmasters?

With the DSS adjustment of the pinion angle is not required, supposedly.

I've heard good things about Dynotech DSs in my area if you want to replace the upper control arm.

My 12 Auto Gt has trapped over 125 in the 1/4, no vibration with a DSS d.s. Glad I haven't had issues.

Edit; My car also has k-springs and stock length control arms.

ive seen more compliants with "shitmasters" then most other driveshafts...

and vibration is a very tough thing to have a clear sense of what it is...anything alum. with will more then likely translate vibrations that are always there more noticably.

DSS is the only company actually spinning shafts at what we see in driving conditions...no one else is doing thay

I'm surprised with the sudden rash of vibration complaints with the DSS recently. Prior to this month I had never heard a single complaint about them.

I think they adjusted the pinion angle -2 degrees on my 2011 and its very smooth. About 140 I noticed it but its gone. Sifting improved too...very light.

I Purchased a Shaftmaster 3.5" shaft & had to have it re-balanced by a competent shop. I’m using a Moser axle yoke using 1350 rear universal & the stock trans yoke (1330)
The Shaftmaster’s drive shaft looked very nice upon arrival with well dressed welds on the weights & splices but didn't balance worth a SHT. I think their machine, if computerized, needs re-calibration. I never called them. The shop I used - used dial indicators to check for run out. The shop wouldn’t let me weld the new weights on – complained of liability problems look like SHT – Mig weld - but balanced well.

Should have called them...... I have been running a Shaftmasters D/S for the past several years on both M6 and A6 cars. In fact, I helped them prototype a new design on the M6 cars as the original design had a vibration issue. Dave was great to work with and their product continues to deliver without issue on my car.

I was installing my UCA mount/arm today, I noticed the little holes drilled on the pinion flange, then notice my little aluminum welded on weight on the driveshaft is opposite those holes.
Where should the driveshaft balance weight be in relation to those holes?
I installed the DS but never took clocking it to any specific position into consideration, also when the dealer did work on my clutch they had to remove the DS as well so right now I have no idea where it used to be.

To get rid of any vibrations in a DSS DS all you do is lengthen it slightly. I had a small vibration around 28 mph and DSS told me to set the length to 3 5/8 and it cured it completely. Up to 115 mph many times at the track and no vibes. By far the best DS for my car, automatic and 4.10's.

And how do you lengthen it?

pulled the OEM shaft out last night, hope to get the DSS installed in the next few days as my schedule allows.

thanks for sharing this note; interested to see what the length of mine is when installed (adjustable UCA set to stock length, fixed LCA's and ~1/2" lower in the rear with CJ springs).
