that's how on other threads I was able to keep my build under 4k with all upgraded parts because I am doing my own labor on my own time plus saving the R&R, and Labor for disassembly and assembly of the motor.

Simple solution folks - buy an Aluminator and do your own work! Then you get to sell your existing motor and make back about four grand. :)

Besides, you know what they say... if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I can say one zhop wanted al.kst 7k to build a short block with oarts. Tben added almost 5k for labor and tuning. I will not be using them at all.

Anotber shop wanted almost 26k for built long block install/parts/labor/lt's meth.

I agree. One is a very very well know shop. That deals with ford/gm.

The main difference is the overall place, quality, experience. You can get laid by a $5 hooker or pay $5,000 for a top list porn star. Either way, you're getting some.

You can have a guy weld something for you, and it will do just fine and look decent, or you can get a surgical welder certified in exotic metals that will lay down a bead so sexy you can't stop staring at it. Both will work, both are welds, but you definitely pay for the sexy.

If I was super rich, I would just send my car straight to the shop we are discussing and write them a check. It's by far the most impressive shop I've seen for Mustangs, and their attention to detail meets my own personal standards, which are VERY high.

That's my 2 pennies.

Interesting that you say its livernois, because on another forum they are building peoples short blocks for 1999 and that is including the machine work and the assembly work so where that 8-9k+ price is coming from if they are building the motors for parts 1500 and labor and build for 1999= 3499.00 so you are saying they are charging 5000+ for removal and installation of motor? That is fucking crazy and a rip off no way it should cost that I can see 1500-2000

I never said anything about what they charge. I've never gone to them for a quote, I've only dealt with people I know and are in my circles.

I think still have the quote I can post. And then they even added stuff I didnt ask for. I also know people that have looked at them for a tune. And was told 1000-1500 for a tune.

Livernois does not use sct to build the tune. They just use it as a means to load the file.

They go above what the average sct tuner does when making a file. They adjust a lot more than the basics.

So do other tuners. Not sure what your point is here. Are you saying the inflated cost of the tune is warranted?

A small few do sure.

no I feel if they are truly charging $1000-1500 for a dyno tune that's robbery. But last time I heard for a email tune they were only charging $200 and I felt that was justifiable.

quick question for anybody using any type of breathers on the valve covers instead of pcv valve... what did you do on the passenger side with the pcv valve? did you just put the breather over the valve?

i was under the impression the pcv valve comes out completely but then there is no way to attach the breather to the valve cover. what am i missing with this?

Everyone running breathers just put it on the PCV itself. I don't think people are changing it out in the passenger side.

I removed the pcv valve when I ran the catch can setup like the Boss 302R & S cars. I just put the JPC breathers on and I put a new pcv valve on. The race teams recommend removing the pcv for the catch can setup and JPC recommends to just leave it in when running the valve cover breathers. When you remove the pcv valve it's just the guts, a ball, spring, and a plastic piece from inside the pcv tube. Put the tube back on the car and clamp the breather to it.
