I just ordered the canton tank from AM with discount it was under $128 shipped!

Where exactly are the kit ones leaking from? Can someone post a pic of where they become faulty?

What if I covered all the seams with black silicone... You know, all pretty like. Would that make sure it's good to go you think?

Im gonna run silicone beads all along the seams and see how it goes. I think if I do that during the install it should be good to go. I'll let you guys know after I get it done and have some miles on it.

well shit... lol. Looks like Im gonna have a leaky tank too. Can someone post up pics of where and why this tank is leaking? I know people said it expands too much, the cap leaks, and others said at the seams... I need a visual so I can figure out how to modify it and improve it before I buy the Canton one.

Im PlastiDiping the reservoir when it gets here during install, I'll let you guys know how it works.

PD is after all meant for shit like this:

Latex-based synthetic rubber formula is flexible and stretchy
Can be sprayed, brushed or dipped onto painted surfaces
Air dries in as few as 30 minutes
11 oz. can provides coverage for up to 5 sq. ft.
Flat sheen
Provides a comfortable, controlled grip that resists moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding and slipping
Will not crack or become brittle in extreme weather conditions
Resists chemicals, impact and abrasion
Prevents electrical shock and vibration, resists heat and deadens sound

Dude do whatever makes you happy but seriously you invested a ton of cash in your car. You have bought top notch stuff for it.....not sure the 130-150 you would spend on a canton or moroso or other unit would prohibit you from getting the best. The plastic tank included in those kits does indeed suck and you never know when its gonna present an issue. What if your a couple hundred miles away at a car show or race and on the way there or way back the tank lets loose and your stuck on a sunday trying to find a way to fix your car to get home

I have indeed spent quite a bundle, but I have also not wasted one dime so far. If I can stop it from leaking and it works, that's another $130 towards something else. If it does end up leaking, I'll just overnight a Canton and be done with it. Like Seer said, there are others who's tank has yet to leak, so I will make sure I'm one of those guys by sealing the whole thing with rubber.

I haven't had my kit on for a long time yet but so far it's stayed leak free and I try to keep an eye on it to be sure.

I've been looking at the JLT intake and the Paxton Comp intake, and I think I have decided on doing what this guy did just with a black tube:

He said it cost him $50 and his IAT have not changed one bit without a heat shield.

What say you S197 people...?

youd be surprised how much surface area you cover with a screen

if you want to do it with a screen, you should make a cone shape that is at least 1" larger, to comensate for all the wire / mesh

that'll get after it!!!
