So im about to look for insurance for the car because my parents are about to sign the car over to me in a few weeks and my moms called a few people about what the rates would be and shes been having a problem with the insurance company on find full coverage for my car when I put the s/c on it. And i was wondering what some of you guys have as far as the insurance goes or if you even tell the company what u have on the car. I dont have a serious driving record ive only had one ticket a few years back and im 20 years old. ANYBODY know where I could start looking? Oh and ive started already with geico with about 218 a month and liberity mutual which they want a little over 3 grand a year so yeah im in need of some advice thanks!!!!

i dont tell my insurance company anything i have on my car and as far as a good rate...well ive had my license suspended once (probably about to be twice) cause i have so many speeding tickets and im only 20. but heres the good thing...if the insurance company doesnt know about it you can actually put it in there name and have them as the primary driver of your car and you can just be a secondary driver. my car is in my name and im not even on the insurance and i only pay 100 buck a month for a gt

hope this helps

Well the main problem is letting the insurance company know....I cant put the s/c on there till they and my parents know that the company knows...because we've had a problem in the past where somebody tried to sue us and they dont want to go through that again.

I have Geico, and my payment is $86 a month full coverage, But im not about to tell them the cars supercharged and loaded to the max with a bunch of stuff. If something happens to the car they'll just have to pay up, ive had 2 other cars loaded up that met up with thieves and broken into and stuff stolen and they paid out each time. But shop around, Geico had the best deal for me. I have a clean record and im 25 so that might have helped but I have to keep my record clean since I have a Class A CDL. One fuck up on that will cost me.

Ive never had one insurance company try to fight it, they have all paid me in full for any damages or anything stolen out of or stolen off of my cars. No investigations or anything, just told me to give them the receipts and they would pay and they did. Since I have always had good insurance companies they know that if im paying them to be my insurance company and chose them over the competition they treat you good if you have a good agent. Which mine has been. Now im with Geico and they have been really good. Im sure in some areas where crimes are high and people are always getting things stolen they may fight it but where im from its not like that. But I may just be lucky and my insurance does that for me.

I understand why one would be hesitant to tell them what's on the car because of the rates, but I insisted on telling mine. They had me a bit spooked because when I asked about coverage on my aftermarket parts, they told me that they would give me "fair value" for them in the event they were damaged in an accident. I've kept probably 95% of all my reciepts though.

Knock on wood for accident prevention.

To the OP, $218 isn't the end of the world. I was paying $280 when I was 20 and I had a 4-cylinder Toyota Celica with no tickets! :wtf1:

Ok, I had a full exhaust, full suspension, turbo and loads of appearance work on my 07 V6, it was in mint condition, 23k miles when some jackass hit me.

I never told my insurance either, and my rates were cheap. But, the other persons insurance wasnt liable for the stuff(insert long story and bs here) my insurance, because I didnt claim the stuff, wouldnt pay either, and I cant blame them.

So basically I walked away with 3k for aftermarket stuff, and kelly blue book value on the car, which wasnt enough to pay it off

So

I was completely and totally f***** all because of someone elses mistake

moral of the story

insurance is a gigantic scam, they will screw you but still, HAVE EVERYTHING INSURED
