It really is bullshit. I wish there was more of a way to find out actual complaints or problems. Start a class action. haha...

Like I said, my tuner has datalogs and everything, I even offered it to them, they still wanted to stick to their idea that the tune was too rich. Even after I explained that Ford's own strategy is to make it rich to cool the cats...

The one thing that I do have to say is that quality has NEVER been a problem at Kooks. This is the first time that I've run into any problem whatsoever. Not saying that the original poster doesn't have a completely legitimate complaint. If he got bad catalytic converters, then so be it.

I just don't want to turn this into a Kooks bash fest, because I've dealt with George and Chris for years and they've been stellar. Fitment has been perfect, and I've had cars make over 600RWHP on their cats like it was nothing.

It sucks that in this case there was a problem. I hope that it gets worked out. I'm still going to be purchasing a set for my vehicle shortly. Brick @ AM just bought a set for his Mach 1 NMRA project he's working on. All other things aside, I'm sure it was a simple human error and they'll stand behind it. It's nice to know they're really still built by hand, though! LOL

You know I have the Kooks LT's and I got to see a set of American Racing headers in a stang at Atco on friday and there's much more clearance with them. If I were to do it again I would have gone with ARH.

I have ARH's 1.75" LTs with an O/R X and they are amazing. I looked at all the options and the ARH's are the best option we have. I'll be swapping my LT's for FRPP shorties so I can install the TT kit, but if I ever have to go LT's again I will be getting ARH's hands down.

Seems strange to me that this is the 3rd bad set of cats with the same response from them and with the exact same excuse.

Well it is 3 bad sets of cats but yours were a completely different issue than what I had. Mine def did not come apart (yet) like yours did. Mine are basically just rattling around in the housing. I mean either way they still need to step up and take care of the customers that just spent alot of money on there product. The first time I called them with the issue I think everything was handled very professional and I had new cats in 2 days after they got my bad ones. This time they are lacking a bit. With the holiday weekend coming up and all it will take forever to get someone done now since nothing has been shipped. I just dont like that fact that it took 3 days to basically find out my tune was good and still havent resolved the problem yet. I keep getting "I will look into it and see what I can do and call you back" but the bad part is I never get a call back and I have to keep calling them to see what is going on.

I could be wrong, but I do believe kooks and ARH use the same company for cats. A friend of mine blew his out while staging at Atco last year.

Ok so I finally got somewhere. I talked to a fellow named Chris over at kooks. He has been very helpful so far. We came to an agreement to send me some new pipes with no cats installed. I basically pay for the pipes and when I get them put mine back in the box and when they get em back I will be refunded. Chris put a rush on the pipes so they would be shipped today considering he wasnt involved earlier in the week and all this should have been done alot sooner. They are probably tired of me calling 2-3 times a day to see what is going on but oh well. So hopefully I will have my new pipes and have them on the car middle of next week. I hope the car doesnt sound like crap without cats now. I will be removing my roush exhaust finally and installing the factory mufflers for now. I talked to a guy that has a set of 2010 gt500 mufflers he is selling. I may try to pick these up but im not sure if it will sound good. So anyway it looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel and this hopefully will be over with next week.

I would try it with the Roush exhaust first just to see how it sounds. You can then maybe add in some 18" resonators to tone it down if you want to. I ordered my kooks headers with the catted X pipe because it sounded horrible without the cats with my Borla Stingers. It was way to loud and raspy. After reading about these horror stories, I ditched the cats and installed 18" resonators right before the axle. Now the car sounds better than it ever has and I have no cabin drone. The resonators do wonders for the exhaust. Here is a link to hear it. it actually even sounds better in person than on the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSfiB2B35KA

I also have the Stingers and cats, the drone sucks and I'm paranoid about the cats and the 2-step. Thanks for the video, it sounds awesome. I didn't go offroad X because I don't want it too loud/raspy, especially with the kids in the car. Looks like those resonators are the ticket. What did you do with the rear sensors? Also, are these the one's you got? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-24238/

My rear O2s are cut off. The passenger side rear O2 sensor is still screwed in but not active. I am using the other bung for a wideband O2 sensor. These are the resonators that I got. I just bought mine locally at a performance shop for 50.00 each. Even though they are aluminized, I also applied several coats of 2000 degree Rust-Oleum silver paint to them. They look great. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-24236/
