I haven't been to able to get them tuned well yet. The best, which I'm currently using, is bama tunes. It's probably just the tuners I'm using. I just feel like there's more info on the hot rods for tuning, but that's just my "opinion".

The biggest thing I don't like about the DR's (which I understand why) is that brenspeed tells you nothing about the cams. How am I supposed to build upon these cams if I know nothing about them? Granted if this was a complete build, I would be getting some SPR cams.

A good tuner will want to know when the intake valve opens. That's why cam cards come with cams. I'd skip any cam that didn't have a cam card I could look at first.

That's what I was thinking lol. So hot rods over the 127200's? I'm looking for power over sound.

To be perfectly honest, I plan to supercharge it in a few years. So I didn't want to spend the extra 6-700 now and then need new cams down the road. My car will be retired in about 2 years and at that time will get the "big mods" done.

Looking at the specs, HR's have more lift .472 vs the CC at .450, intake is very similar 221 vs 222 and exhaust is 240 for HR and 235 for the CC. I would prefer a higher LSA than 110 on the HR though. Everything is a trade off I know with an NSR cam, I just want it all! Haha

Hot rods over 127200 imo. What type of supercharger are you going to go with? Like everyone else is saying you might as well get springs and a higher lift cam now rather than have to do it all over again when you get the blower.

I really want a tvs 2300. If I have to redo cams later for a blower grind, why not just do that later on with brand new springs/retainers? I can always sell the HR's later and recoup most of my money.

Yes you can do that. I asked because Hot Rods will work with a centri. The question I have is why not do the blower cams and springs now and then you won't have to do it again. It will save you the cost of another set of phaser bolts and possibly valve cover gaskets. Plus you will be a few hundred ahead by not having to sell the used Hot Rods. It would be almost enough to pay for the springs and phaser mods.

Phaser bolts are about $36 for a pair, you will loose at least $200 on the Hot Rods. That $236 could be applied to a set of TFS springs at $200 and Lockouts at $60. You will also pay a little less for blower cams and they will work fine with your na setup.

You don't necessarily need blower specific cams to go with a blower, it really is a bit of a marketing ploy. In fact, if you have a cam modeller spec out your engine, you would probably be surprised at the lobes that they would pick.

I asked my tuner about running Hot Rod cams or a blower specific cam and he said to stick with the Hot Rods. So that's what is going in my new engine.

Geez us.... My brain hurts after reading this thread.

Here is what I gathered from reading 8 pages of cam discussion.

*Hot Rod cams are the most popular setup (Sound and small HP gains)

*Com Cams I > Detroit Rockers > Mother Thumpers

*If you want the best HP you should go with the Com Cam Stage II XFI

Now I've come to the crossroads and find myself trying to decide between CC II Vs. HR

I don't think that most would agree with all of your conclusions. 330rwhp is a pretty common number with Hot Rods and long tubes. IMO that's more than a small gain. The tuner needs to know how to tune them though. FRPP includes a guide for cam retard that makes a significant improvement over the stock retard settings.

What are the CC2? 127200 or 500? IMO Hot Rods will make more power than the 127200. Like Weatherman suggested Lunati has some nice grinds too.

I made 320/318 through an auto which was a 30hp pickup with no torque loss swapping in my Hot Rods...I think that's a decent gain. I'm sure there are better out there but I'm happy with these.
