What brake options are really out there.

I wan't to be able to stop good as the car is a daily driver, and will be pulling over 140 in the 1/4.

At this point though, i'm looking for anywhere to pull weight out of this hunk of metal.

Someone mentioned to me GiroDisc, but thus far, I havnt had any luck with finding any for the 2011. Havnt tried calling yet, ive just been shopping around for weight savings.

them are heavier, no chance of that

Not to mention you cant order them on an automatic car anyway.

Make sure you dont get anything with a thin disk setup. I had aerospace on my race car and they would warp like crazy from the street driving and heat. Good for 1 stop at the end of the track and then cool down time. Not real good for stop and go driving (although I did it anyway).

Look at Wilwood if you want weight savings. I saved 11lbs per corner going to Wilwood Aluminum 4 pistons/2 piece rotors over a set of single piston Cast calipers on an Audi TT (similar in size and construction to the stock Mustang brake set). And that included going up from 12" to 13" on the rotors..

What about 05-09 brakes with DBA 5000 (2 piece rotors)? Not the best option but lighter and I'm sure you can find some easily.

Also check out Vorshlag's auto-x build - he mentions some lightweight brake rotor options that work with the stock calipers for his auto-x project. Might want to PM that guy to see what he was able to cobble together.

Willwood Carbon Ceramic Brakes

Only $7100!

This is as light as non drag brakes will get, by a long shot. I think the are 9lbs/corner lighter than "regular" brakes.

I think for a drag/street car I would go with something like the Aerospace brakes and run cooling ducts. Then replace rotors as needed.

aerospace is the only one i found that offers a good setup for our cars thats not labeled "drag use only"

My buddy Tommy uses Strange engenering brakes on his grand national. 11.5" ceramics. He traps 155+ and as far as i know has zero issues. But im not speaking from personal experience.
