I’ve been considering adding long tube headers to my 2011 GT and would like some input. I know the old saying applies, you get what you pay for, but after looking at websites, is there a big difference between brands the Pypes $1200 set up vs kooks $1800 set up( or any of the other brands in between)? Are there any issues with fitment, leaks? My main go is sound if it makes more HP, then bonus. Any advice would be great.

My car is an 09, but I bought the Pypes set for my car. Paid 750 I think. They have been on the car for well over 10k miles and I haven't had the first problem out of them. I would recommend them, assuming the 5.0 headers are of the same quality.

Whichever brand you go with, you will need a tune because the O2 sensors will be farther downstream

Thanks for that bit of info. I’ve haven’t met anyone with that brand so I’m just trying to get as much info as possible.

That looks like a pretty good price.

Did you notice a difference after you installed them?

It might have picked up a little bit of power. Nothing crazy. Sounds cooler though!

Just an FYI depending on what sound you're looking for, the X pipe will give you a raspy sound. The H pipe will be a deeper tone

parts choices are not tech on this site, installing parts questions would be tech, thread moved to chat.

Pypes long tube headers are Chinese replicas of the Kooks.

Not even close. The headers are very different. Kooks are a midlength, and headers are long tubes. I have had both. Kooks dont burn up o2's on e85, pypes do.

I had the Kooks and they were a nice set of headers. I bought new Ford gaskets and never had any trouble with them using the factory studs.

You're right about the 11-14 GT headers and I'm right about the 05-10 GT headers.

Since this thread is about the coyote your post is useless.

Not entirely because it illustrates the difference in design and answers the OP's first question. The long tube design of the Pypes has the potential to make more mid-range torque, but the Kooks are more tuner friendly because the upstream O2 sensors are closer to the stock location than with the Pypes.

Again not true. How do i know? I had Pypes on my 2012 for years and switched to Kooks after a few sets of o2's got burned up. The kooks on my car have always made more power thru the rpm band.

Did you have the tune revised when you switched headers?
