Long Tubes in Emission states?

this question still confuses me and maybe you guys can shed some light on it for me. Everyone says go long tube if you are going to do anything, righ. So how does that work in an emission testing state? Seems like a lot of money wasted if you wont pass inspection because the cats have been moved. Or for the most part when you get the tubes and retune your car that most likely the only thing you will deal with is the sniff test and you shouldnt have a problem when retuned?

You just need to use cats farther downstream. Many of us with longtubes pass, one way or another, without removing the longtubes.

Mine just passed last Thursday in DFW. I have longtubes and high flow cats. Key is to have rear 02's and have them turned on. You need o2 harness extenders and the tune probably should be adjusted since the o2's are now further away from the front o2's.

My bassani cats don't throw any codes even on the stock tune I think i'll pass emmissions, if not i'll just pass it elsewhere.

good feedback guys. Yeah i think with the hand held tuner you have to have it tuned to turn off the rear 02s but i was still concerned.

I know in Mass, if your O2's are turned off you wont pass the "readiness" test, so you'll fail. Also, I dont think you can turn them on/off through the tuner, it has to be written into the tune you are using.

Once I get my P0153 nailed down the GT will pass fine, though i did have to have the tune adjusted because the high flow cats were still tripping cat inefficiency codes.

i just talked to cris from am earlier about this and he says if i go with longtubes and shorty catted x or h i will be fine to pass emissions with their tune, im in ny state where its a obd scan

I have long tubes with the catted H pipe and pass with no problem. I have to use a tune with the rear O2 sensors on, so I load it right before I drive to where I'm getting the emissiosn test.
