lookin for new tires.. need help

Looking for new tires but want to keep the same stance but go wider in rear. What I have now are 245/45/17 all the way around, wanting to keep the low profile look. I ws thinking of going 245/40/17 rear and 245/45/17 front. the rims are a 17x9 all the way around...

If you think of a better combo please let me know

Well if you want them to be wider, don't go 245 both front and back!

Are you set on a specific tire brand? Just trying to get an idea before I go look for sizes.

Maybe go with a 255/40/17 front and 275/40/17 rear in Nitto NT05's?

Just want something that will not hit the pocket lol.... I can do the mounting and balance at work so not worried about that.. Now with those size will I keep the low profile look that I have now.

With the sizes I gave you, the rears will have the same sidewall size, and the fronts would be about .6" smaller then what you have now.

You would have to look around for 35 and 30 series tires for 17" rims which I couldn't find at least on nittos site. They would also throw your gearing way off too, and with 4.10's you'll max out at like 120 because they're so small! (not exact, just another effect of little tires)

Also, not that its the "end all tire search" but on Tirerack I searched sizes from 225-275 all in 30 & 35 series for 17" wheels.

Results? 1, a Yoko 225/35/17

And a 225 on a 9" wheel is pushing it

Well the simple thing to do would get 4 of the same size since you have 4 of the same width wheels. If you wanted a staggered look, what I recommended first would work

Maybe go with a 255/40/17 ($145) front and 275/40/17 ($150) rear in Nitto NT05's?

That would give you, like i said, same size rear tire height as all 4 you have now, smaller front for a lower front tire profile (you wanted), and you have wider rears (you wanted). I've also added the prices I've found to my quote. Now is the car a DD? Because the NT05's are a good street tire, but might wear fast. So now that we have the size down (maybe) you need to pick a tire based on how you drive.

this is helping out big time and yes the car is a DD for right now. So tire wear needs to be a big deal. I prob good go with BF Goodrich tires

I have to pop in an ask a question real quick. Will 275/40 fit on a 17 inch wheel? AM told me they recommend me to stay at 255

Get some T/A KDW's. Heard awesome things about their performance and wear, they are cheap, and not that its "important" but they have a bad ass tread pattern.

They make both 255/40 & 275/40 sizes for 17" wheels, and those sizes are both within 9" rim spec.

Nitto's 275/40/17 NT05 has a 9" wheel on the low side of their spec, so I would say yes.

Note: I have NO experience directly with putting a 275 on a 9", but nittos run narrow so I would say go for it.

275's will fit... I used to run 285/35/20 in the rear on a 20x9 rim back when I had them.... Thats the largest I would go though. Now I run 285/45/18 on a 18x9.5 rim...

OK here is what I found if i go 245/45/17 in front (9.50 section 25.5 diameter) and 275/40/17 rear (10.90 section 25.6 diameter).. Ther diff does not look like it will be noticed.
I mean the diameter from front at 25.5 and rear 25.6 is almost close
