I personally know a guy with stock ls3 internals pushing over 800whp and has been for awhile. He owns a shop in Houston called Auto Adrenaline and he is the tuner. He claims the ls3's rods and pistons can hold 1000hp.



well he is wrong. i know of several 550-600rwhp LS3's in vettes and camaros that have crapped.


1000hp? he needs to let folks who have blown them up at 475rwhp know that.

After I'm done with my swap, I will tally up the cost of my swap and I'm positive it will be less than the cost of a blower. At present time, I'm hovering around $2500(This includes selling my 4.6L 3V/5-speed combo)...and I've got all I need, save for a few small things (oil, belt, coolant, CAI, etc.)

Here is a run @ 752whp. Since then he has upped the boost and is using E85 and making 840whp... Still up and running, he is a bad ass tuner. I am sure those other guys that break at 475whp will cry when they watch this

He also says that he has tuned other vettes and camaros making 650+ all day and a few others at the same power level as him. All stock internals.

no point in trying to prove him wrong.. you can show proof all day how well the stock internals hold up but he will always be right! almost like arguing with a woman.. just no point

There was a story not long ago in Hot Rod magazine where they took a junkyard ls motor put a turbo on it and tried to blow it. They had it up to over 1100 hp and it was still going.

I don't know. They thought it was a 5.3 but the power curve was different so they took it apart after the test.

not trying to hijack your thread but i have to defend my most impressive/least money build i ever done. 2300 entire drivetrain,(motor,t-45,clutch,intake, carb.msd,everything) 25mpg, run 6.70's all day on 125hp. I will argue with a fence post over LSX< ford!! 7.30 on motor

I don't know why you guys argue about this crap. It's two different ways to make power. IMHO the 3v is impressive in it's output for only 281ci.

The lsx are impressive to, but at 5.7liters + of displacement...well they better be.

Took out a Porsche 911 turbo the other day. About an hour later, my shortblock let go. Looks like it is a rod or rod bolt, but not postive.


im not against LS motors at all. they are nowhere near bulletproof. legend is greater than reality.
