Thanks for the input guys. I expected you of all people to bust my balls Frankie. Any of y'all have the TCI ratchet shifter? I really don't care for the stock shifters appearance and I'd love to have a better option for manually shifting as well

Not sure if TCI makes a shifter for the 2011+ but why you would want to shift manually is beyond me; the computer can shift faster/better than any human.

Get the auto so you can reach back and help the baby with its bottle or if it drops its pacifier. Also the stroller and stuff won't be sliding around in the trunk as much. Also when the wife takes it to the grocery store she wont accidently dump all the grocery bags over while shifting gears..lol

Fun factor. And they have one listed on AMs website.

I don't have any of the problems right now, and hopefully not for a long time!

Honestly, I'm not sure what route I would go. I've always felt that with a muscle car, a manual is a must, but if your a shitty driver like me at the track, an auto is an advantage. If you drag race 100x a year, go auto. If you want a fun daily driver, go manual

Not meant to be a jab, but your description sounded like you might be unfamiliar with the ins and outs of driving a stick. I just find it near impossible that you drove nine consecutive cars, all with bad transmissions. If that were the case everywhere, there would be a class action lawsuit against Ford. I've driven / ridden in a similar number of MT82 cars and I've heard a whine from only one of them, and none were what I'd call "bad."
I know how to drive a stick just fine. I was the go-to guy in my old club for guys who couldn't run the number they wanted. I had a LS1 Camaro that ran low 10's, still on the 6-speed manual. Most guys at that point would have went auto. I also still have a '69 Camaro with a built M-22. I can powershift, and am not a pussy when it comes to banging gears.

But I will stick to what I said about the MT-82's, they just are not "good" gearboxes. If someone thinks they are, they haven't driven a truly great one. Yes, some are better, some are worse then others but not one of the bunch I drove gave me a good feeling during hard driving especially the one I had. Day to day some of them might have been just fine, but most didn't like being power shifted, or even any kind of high rpm shift. They all were notchy, some didn't like cold shifts, etc, etc. Like I said, if I got a better one, maybe I would feel different, but I know I am not alone in my feelings. Believe me, if you got a bad one like so many of us you would feel my pain. I am happy you got a good one, don't get me wrong dude. I just WISH Ford would at least give the option of a TR-6060 in the 5.0 instead of something made in China that will hold up to the power I plan to add down the road.

I know just dicking with you. I just prefer auto for a daily driver. A stick can be fun but most of the time you are just driving in traffic and shifting gets old . Of course I am 47 now and it is just easier to not have to keep shifting. Also i have found that I was always harder on my stick cars and always worrying about every little noise .

They do make one. Looks kinda funky, and costs like $500. But like you said, no need for it.

Mad cause im not a wussy? Roflmao! ;)

How can you "love" it if it's broke? :roflmao:

Never loved something even though you had a little trouble with it? It's perfectly matched to the engine. Anyone who says they want a TR6060 in it just wants to go slower.

Kind of kills your point there buddy, just sayin :roflmao:

Just trying to be honest. I still love it and will still be an advocate for it.

I think I'm gonna stick with my decision to get the auto. Hopefully they can find me what I want fast, but not too fast!

i own a mt-82, car was in the body shop for some one bumping into me and weirdly i got a mustang rental and of course it was an auto...honestly it was the lamest driving experience ever...sure it was kind of nice to just step & go...but it's just not the same as you have zero control over the car...i DONT car what anyone says the stupid little shift button does not make up for it in the slightest. it's really all preference, do you want to work a bit while driving, have TONS more control over your car and thus (to me) s more fun driving experience or do you just want to step and go?
thats the question you have to answer.

as for issues ZERO on my mt-82. while i think they are a tad finicky and there are a few bad apples, i think it's mostly people not driving it properly...i drove 7-8 different '13's & a few 12's and none have any of this issues people on the net complain about and moat of the drives were in cold weather below 40...no griding or hard/notchy shifting. like someone else said it ALL the trannys were bad or even most of them, ezclyding driver error, there would be law suits and the massive investigation that was done would have lead the class action law suit...i really think a lot of it's the driver *ducks out of the way of stones being thrown*

i will say that i think the early ones with the old fluid had a bit more problems...but still i wouldnt consider it an epdidemic.

Believe me it's not the always the driver, considering mine made noises at idle as well and while in gear. That reasoning is an excuse. People like you who got a "okay" one have no idea what it was like to deal with a POS one and tring to get it fixed. While the narrow gate might mess up a few inexperienced drivers, that was not the case with mine. I for one am glad to have gotten rid of that junk MT-82 that was in my old car and into a 6R80 that I know will handle my power plans. If I want to shift, I can always hop into my other car and use it's M-22, now that is a tranny...all four gears of it. :thumb:

Installing the canned SCT tune that comes on the 3015 will clean a lot of the slop up in the A6.

What I'm mostly hearing here is that the MT-82 is not well-suited to drag racing or street driving with that sort of shifting technique. So if that's where anybody's interest lies the MT-82 probably isn't the wisest choice.

I honestly wonder if the road course and autocross guys who tend to drive more like endurance race drivers have anywhere near as much trouble with it.

I'm on my second MT-82 in my car(holding pretty strong tbh) but I am looking to go auto. But my only reason is, is because the car I'm looking at has everything I now want.
If I were to do it all over again, I would go auto and not look back.
Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE rowing through the gears and all that, but if I were to line up against almost any auto 5.0(around here at least), I would bet on them. Not saying I can't drive it, but I know what the auto's can do compared to the sticks.
