The next race will be in Portland in a couple of weeks. That's the last race of the season. I will be out at Pacific testing during the fall though. The testing sessions will be open to anyone that wants to attend. I will give you a ride if you like.

Thanks for the offer but the ride you gave me in my own car was enough to last an entire lifetime, lol.

Maybe next year. I'm not a race fan but your go pro video reeled me in enough that I'd like to attend an event where someone I knew was racing in.

Even though the tire adhesion was very poor, I qualified number 1 in AIX. I have to be honest, this isn't as impressive as it seems because there were only two cars in AIX.

What was the AIX pole time compared to the AI pole time?

I'm not sure. During qualifying, they put on a better fight than I thought they would. I would guess that they were roughly 4 seconds a lap slower.

The custom built Borla XR-1 mufflers arrived today. They are about 4" longer and 2" larger in diameter than my current Dynomax Race Bullets. Even though NASA said that they don't care about decibels in the NW region, it will be nice to lower the noise level. At the last event, I measured 124db coming up the hill at 8,000 RPMs. Borla is convinced that these mufflers will lower the DB at full throttle by 10-15%.

Since I have to remove the exhaust, now will be a good time to send the headers out to be coated too.

I installed the Borla mufflers last night. The really have a much deeper tone to them and they definitely are quieter. Since they are larger in diameter, I ended up having to tuck them into the driveshaft tunnel. In the end, they fit really nice and I have a lot of ground clearnce. Other then the front and rear band clamps, everything is tig welded.

Now, I will have to get the car back out onto the race track so they decibels can me measured.

Project weight reduction begins because every pound counts. My goal is to reduce the weight by 200 lbs. In drag racing, if a 100lbs is worth a 10th of a second, how much is 200lbs worth in a 30 minute race?

Even though my doors were already gutted, I trimmed another 16.5lbs of weight off of the inner door structure and I removed the tar sound deadener. I have been asked by a couple of my sponsors to quit giving rides in the car. I understand the potential liability in this, so I removed the passenger FX1 seat, seat tracks, and seat belt. This accounted for another 35.5 lbs. of weight. I sold both FX1 seats and brackets. I will be replacing the drivers seat with a Kirkey containment seat that will not be adjustable. This should save about 10 lbs.

Next on the list is this.

Make a rear bumper support out of aluminum.
Swiss cheese the front bumper support as much as possible while maintaining the strength.
Cut out all inner sheet metal skin.
Cut out all of the trunk inner structure.
Tiger racing carbon fiber hood.
Enkei PF01 wheels.
Considering a carbon fiber tunnel.
Loss 20lbs myself.

How much weight will a carbon fiber hood save? The stock hood is aluminum.

The exhaust is tucked up in there nicely. Do the mufflers have to come out to pull the DS?

The Tiger Racing lift off carbon hood is supposed to be 16 lbs. The stock hood without the hinges is 30lbs.

I can get the driveshaft out with the exhaust installed.

Would you have started with a BIW if you had it to do over?

I don't think so because I still drive the car on the street. It also looks like I will be chosen to compete in the Optima Ultimate street car challenge after SEMA. The car was to be licensed and insured to compete. The only thing I have to do is make my turn signals functional.
