So, Marc, when your car's transformation is complete (this time), what kind of venue are you looking for? Road racing, I can only presume? Which sanctioning body are you spec'ing the car for? ALMS? Grand AM? Or just local track days for shits & giggles?

I'm guessing the last one you mentioned :thumb2:

There are three local groups that I race with. I have to run in the modified class and the car did very well. However, there is a 1000 hp Lamborghini in my class that was hard to hang with. Mostly because my tune was setup to pull timing when the coolant temps would rise. On the dyno with the coolant temps at 185, my car made 734whp. On the track with the coolant temps at 235, I bet I was only making 625whp. The first few laps, my top speed was 175 MPH. When the temps went up, my top speed was only 155 MPH. With this new setup, my car be will be much lighter and the HP will not drop nearly as much being NA with a carb. I bet I will easily have the field covered next year.

i noticed your driveshaft in one of the pictures. i'm kinda surprised that style driveshaft (ranger/slilp joint) holds up to the jillions of rpms that car turns with no vibes.

I have driveshaft vibration/harmonic issues between 160 and 170. After that, the vibration goes away and the car is very smooth. The first one piece driveshaft I had was really bad and I ended up breaking it. When I received the new one, I sent it out and had it balanced. When I get the new transmission in the car, I am going to install a Moser Yoke on the diff and a Moser slip yoke in the trans. I won't use an aluminum shaft either.

Any concern for longevity on the motor considering its a sprint cup qualifying motor? I'm sure they have those pushed to the limit to ensure the fastest times.

Not really because they use the same components in all of the engines. As I understand it, They will build a dozen or so engines and use the engine that dynos the highest for qualifying. That being said, any engine that turns 9,000 and has really high spring pressure will need to be freshend up twice a year.

It actually shows up with a lot of parts. They're not messing around with those spark plug wires-they look thick enough to double as a tow rope.

I could make from where I am to Seattle in like 2 1/2 hours with that motor, I'd just need to have pit crews set up in a few towns to gas me up and swap tires!
