perhaps a silly question, i did some searching and came up with squat. i'm assuming but that of course is assuming that the mt82 should bolt up and fit just fine as its from the same chassis car. would there be a problem then with wiring would be a bigger issue i imagine. i'm thinking it would if it was a drop in be a cheap alternative to a tr6060 swap.

shit the title is supposed to say mt82 obviously.

I'm pretty sure the speed sensor isn't compatible and it's not as simple as the number of holes. It's a different setup. I'm not 100% sure though. You can look up the differences here: http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=0

I'm wondering how much torque the Getrag can handle? The swap I'd like to do is the new 6 speed auto. Don't think it's possible without alot of bandaids so I'll have to stick with the 6060, lol.

well i may have found something that suggests it's a different bellhousing via svtperomance forums. as some guys was talking about putting a t56 in an 11 but someone stated that the t56 uses a different housing. so with that i'm assuming that it is indeed a different bellhousing. i figured the wiring might be an issue:yuck:

But the MT82 is much newer and there are probably more people taking out 6060s to go auto vs people pulling MT82

Newer doesn't always mean better. And that kinda proves my point about the tr6060 being cheaper. If there is an abundance of tr6060s then price would lower vs the less common mt82

i guess idk, the tr6060 has a higher demand for swaps where as the mt82 doesn't other then people wanting stick. plus the tr6060 wasnt produced nearly in the saem volume as the mt82 so i would imagine theere are far more out there and should therefor be cheaper.

That's crazy talk. I don't want to be that guy but I feel I must be that guy right now.

Why are you asking us if svtp has all the answers? The transmissions have integrated bellhousings, the only part that has to bolt up is the motor to transmission. The transmission to bellhousing bolt pattern doesn't matter because the bellhousing is part of the transmission. This is unless you are talking about the t56 magnum which is modified to accept an sfi rated bellhousing.

Did you read the manuals I linked to in an earlier post? All the specs are in those workshop manuals. Why trust someone elses words when you have the ability to look it up and verify for yourself?

Bottom line. It's not a good idea. Are you having problems with the 3650? A 6060 swap is proven and works very well. Why do you think the GT500 is still using a 6060? Because it's a very good transmission that can take a lot of abuse.

The MT82 will bolt right up as long as you use the shifter, cross member, etc. IDK about the electronics and driveshaft though. I’m guessing you will need some sort of driveshaft solution.

But DON’T DO IT! I frequently drive cars with TR-3650’s, TR-6060’s, T-56 Magnums and MT82s’. I have a car with a MT-82 and a T-56 Magnum.

The MT-82 BLOWS. Not only is it on the weak side is shifts like crap and the gearing is STUPID SHORT.

This winter I’m going to put a blower on my 5.0. It will be getting a TR-6060 at the same time.

You can get a tr6060 for 1500-2000 all day I'm sure the mt82 is more pricey than that

Where can u find a TR6060 for 1500-2000? Ill buy one rt now. Lol. I am contemplating doing a MT82 swap in my 08 right now. (Well, when I get home from deployment. But I'm trying to buy one right now:)

I disagree strongly, but to each their own. I prefer the MT82 over the 6060 and t56.

That said, the 6060 is likely stronger and is the better swap candidate.

The ratios maybe better, but the 6060 is the way to go, either that or the t56 magnum.
