Picked up a 2023 F-150 XL, 4x4 5.0 as a daily driver. The idea was to have reliable but fun daily transportation that could still haul stuff. That lasted exactly one day.

Decided to see what it would do bone stock, with 87 in the tank, using my dragy. It didn’t disappoint.

Decided to run E85, build my own cold air, remove the catback, spare tire, jack and use Forscan to enter a shorter tire size to gain more trap speed (thank you internet)

Realizing the wall had been reached unless I gutted the truck, I got with Preaux Tuning for a flex fuel tune.

Now we’re getting somewhere! Dropped a Whipple air box in place to augment the 5” CF inlet tube and dropped more time.

Yesterday, installed a GT350 intake and that’s where we stand. I’m waiting for a tune revision to make more passes but I’m expecting more progress.

If you would’ve told me back in 2006 that I’d be buying a new truck to drag race, I probably would’ve laughed at you. My how times have changed.

My wife wants me to sell the Shelby and Dodge cummins and buy a new truck. She has no idea what she is really asking for.

The 5.0 is the only engine I would buy in a Ford pickup. My 2016 has 85K and has been perfect. If I want more power I can drop a blower on it and get 700hp easy. And it is good for 300K miles or more. The 3.5 Ecoboost is already maxed out and you are looking at expensive repairs at 150K miles.

Yeah I don’t know why they don’t offer a 5.0 V8 in the Expedition.

I ended up buy a new Durango R/T with 5.7 Hemi.

Dyno appointment set for Monday @ 1600

Tuner wants to tune the truck and then compare the difference between the stock airbox and the whipple box.
