Name Those Delete Plates

I'm using the deletes off of my PJ for the wife's car. Not sure where Saleen sourced them from. Anyone know?

Number stamped on the side: 05501-514-AA

Same numbers are stamped on mine. I just bought them from a member on here a week ago. Was told they are Steeda, by way of Brenspeed? Makes sense as Steeda holds exclusive patent?, production rights to deletes. Thats why FRPP ceased and desisted from selling theirs not long after they started.

If that's the case, what about the Saleen delete plates?

Like he said, Saleen must be buying them from Steeda, because they have the same numbers stamped on them.

Are you suggesting there is something "not good" about the economy ones? lol. Thats what i have and the only difference i know of is that these arent billet and supposedly the billet ones are around .01" taller.

Didnt mind saving that extra coin though. I know the billet ones are good to buy if you want a pre-drilled nitrous input

They'll only flow as much as your smallest restriction, I think unless you port match it seems like it would cause turbulence.

As far as the "economy" plates go, this is a cut & paste from the Steeda site. The way I read this is that the castings are from Ford without the butterflies. I doubt that Steeda has an exclusive patent on a ptoduct with O.E. castings. On their more expensive version, perhaps yes.

I hope Steeda Steve can enlighten me on this if I am mistaken.

Great products no matter what the answer is BTW.

The billet ones are slightly larger than the economy ones, and I mean slightly. The big thing is that the economy ones are in very limited supply and will likely be discontinued very soon, so grab them while you can if you need them.

Those pieces are Ford Production IMRC plates removed from the assembly line before the final stages of machining for the butterflies is done.

They are just as good as the billet ones, in fact the tolerances are Ford so they are probably better than the billet.

Steeda did the billet ones first, Ford Racing pulled these off the line and put them in the catalog, Steeda got cranky with the whole patent thing, then told Ford Racing that if they want to sell them it must be sold through Steeda or not sell them at all, Pretty simple really.

Anyone on this board will make as much power with these as they would with the billet ones, in fact I would bet that back to back there are no if not negligible power differences.

Thanks Mike, I thought that was the case but I didn't know for sure.

Uless you are going to put laughing gas on your car I don't see the need for the extra expense of the billet ones.
