Need tq spec

Does anyone know what the tq spec is for the bolts on the back of the cam phasers ? These are the ones pulled to install Livernois lockouts.

I found the Livernois lockout directions and they say 210 in. lb. but that cannot be correct becouse the first one i tryed snapped.

Using the special tool, tighten the LH and RH camshaft phaser sprocket bolts in 2 stages.

• Stage 1: Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

• Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.

I saw that but I need the spec for the 5 bolts on the rear of the phaser not the front one. Thanks though.

No not the cap bolt the ones on the back of the phaser that you remove to install the lockouts. I have a workshop manual but the cam phaser is not serviced by Ford it is a replace only part so they dont have the spec in the manual.

Hmm.. that is odd. We have done what seems to be hundreds of those phasers here at the shop and we have always used that torque spec before.

The part is not serviced by Ford and is sold as an assembly to them so there is not a torque spec to it listed in the service manual. We obtained the torque spec from the manufacturer of the phaser.

I wonder if the bolts have since changed in some way and the torque is different now. In reality tightening them with blue or medium thread locker to just hand tight should be fine but we prefer to use the torque spec.

Were the phasers brand new that had the bolt that snapped? By brand new I mean the first service of the part since new.

Let me know and I will see what I can come up with to help figure it out. I have more bolts here if you need me to ship you some as well.

The lockouts were installed when the motor was built a couple mounths ago and after the issue at FFW (motor going) I just wanted to verify if they were locked adv. or retard so I opened them up to verify and apon reasemble I had this issue. Thanks for the offer on the bolt I may take you up on that . I will be sending a few of my injectors to you guys tomarrow to flow ck and clean , so I will call you then . Thanks again Mike
