These COPs are made by Performance Distributors that are known for some pretty stout distributor ignition systems. I figured I'd give the less marketed ones a try. I have used their products a long long time about on an older Ford and they were great. Plus, they are the only ones to give specs. MSD, Accel, and others don't give specs. I love MSD, but no specs...so I didn't want to guess on what I bought. Plus there are a lot of people that have used them with no major recommendations.

I drove to work with the new COPs today. I did not go WOT or anything, just regular commuting and I definitely feel a difference in driveability. Letting the clutch out without throttle input, the motor is definitely stronger...RPMs to not dip as soon as the clutch engages....as it did with OEM COPs. Motor feels smoother too.

Not sure how to evaluate these COPs other than dynoing with OEM, then these. But that would be for HP/TQ evaluations.

I wish there was a way to test them by looking at the actual spark energy jumping the gap.

I use Torco because the racing events I go to are in remote areas. No race fuel. In these remote areas the octane is also lower than in the city. So Torco is handy to have in your trunk if you get stuck with lower octane fuel or even questionable fuel quality.

Yucky red residue

Why not just bring a 5 gallon can of Shell URT? I know it's expensive as shit but that red residue can't be good for your motor...

So here is my new breather setup. I could not use the Stef's can I bought due to limited real-estate. So I used my old Jaz breather catch cans.

Passenger side:
I use the OEM connectors with 3/8" emissions hose routed to the fender.

Then I mounted the breather catch can right next to the windshield washer fluid tank.

On the driver's side, I did the same, OEM connector with 1/2" emission hose routed around the air box then into the fender.

Hose goes around the supercharger coolant pump to the catch can.

Both catch cans are mounted in the exact same spot.

Let's see how well this works.

I think I will have to extend the neck where the filter clamps on to.
Forward of the fliter is an opening in the bumper... I am not sure if the rushing air onto the filter is a good idea. Could this potentially create back pressure on the catch can? Or am I over analyzing it?

I think I will have to extend it anyway due to when the rainy season comes in. I am afraid rain might get the filter wet and who knows then...

Well like on the track day, I went through two full tanks of fuel. I would have to haul approx 25 gallons of fuel with me. Sometimes its just not feasible.

But I would take race fuel over Torco any day. Its not something I typically do. Only when I know I'll be in remote areas.

I could just run the motor without it and just use straight fuel...but like I said, I only use Torco as an added safety against detonation that may be cause with extreme heat/conditions.

Figured its a cheap insurance against buying a new motor... lol

I'm not familiar with Torco stuff...I've only used their fluid in LSDs before as per manufacturer recommendation.

I have a buddy who regularly runs this Lucas Oil Octane Booster with no ill effects--maybe worth a try? Not sure if Torco is similar or not.

Catch can set up looks solid! Out of curiosity, would you be better off with a vacuum pump?

Not sure...
I know just at idle I get some nice blow out of the passenger side.
I do worry that at all out WOT, would my breather setup have enough volume to flow...? Thats my only worry.

Did you actually pull the PCV valve out from under the valve cover?
I can't remember and I am too lazy to go back in this thread to check if you did.

No, I left it in there. It vents nicely with it in place.
I guess you can take it out...but I am not looking to take any parts off this motor as its still under warranty; thats why I bought a sealed motor.

Whether the vendor will honor warranty is a different story... lol

Does it have a lot of vapor coming out of the breather on the passenger side. Mine had quite a bit of vapor coming out of the breather so routed it back into the procharger tube so I didn't have to see it anymore.

Not sure about vapor. I know idling I get air flow out of the hose. Once connected to the breather catch can, you can't feel the air blowing out of the passenger side.

I will drive the car for a few days and report back.

Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose...?

Im running a catch can as well. Mine has quite a bit of white ish vapor coming out. I ran the catch can a bit and it didn't have anything any it just a small amount of condensation. Car doesn't overheat coolant temps stay down and never had to add coolant just seems like more then it should have. I know my stock motor had a little bit come out as well but this seems to be a lot more then that

If it makes you feel better...mine has TONS of vapor, even at idle. It's like chimney once the motor is hot.

Thanks that does make me feel better. Mine does it at idle pretty good. I know my plugs are never wet with oil or anything so I dunno been like that for prolly 3k miles now and never an issue motor wise. Doesn't smoke use oil anything of that nature.

Same boat as you! Motor runs strong, no wet plugs, etc... I think mine consumes a little bit of a oil but nothing worth worrying over--mine actually leaks from the front cover so that will account for some of it too.

Mine leaks out of the dip stick tube a couple drops. Cant get the tube to stay down so said the hell with it. What kind of set up do you have.

326 iron block stroker, whipple 2.3 @ 16-17psi. My dipstick tube never comes up but my passenger side breathers drip a good amount of oil. I'm thinking of adding a vacuum pump to the valve covers sometime later this year.

What rings are you running? It's nice to know I'm not the only one with this issue.

You know, I asked them about that front cover leak and they didn't know of any issues. I've got several hundred miles on mine and no leaks luckily.

If your dipstick is popping out, you have too much crankcase pressure.
Unless the seal in your dipstick is totally worn, the pressure in the crankcase is trying to find the path with less resistance...your dipstick.

How are your PCV ports on your valve covers setup; PCV, breathers, breather catch cans, oil separator, etc...?

Quick update:

2nd day of driving... The motor feels so much smoother!! No noticeable change in oil level...its only been one day though.
