It is :beerdrink: Almost out of the woods! hey Irish, hows your car coming together?

Just talked to the tuner and I am having spark blow out at 5500rpm. They are changing the plugs to 2 steps colder and tighter gap. With 14 degrees of timing and 5500rpm she was at 550whp. I was very happy to hear that and the motor is running strong. Hoping to see 600whp after they finish up the tune. Then there will be some beer drinking and relaxing after this week of worring that I forgot something:beer:

I hear ya with that.... Thats the worst part of it all..... Soon enough it will be, :beerdrink: Glad to hear your up and running where you want to be.
any numbers? where the fuck is my text with updates! lol
Tomm, Ill shoot ya a text with th #'s. I still dont know them
So what was the issue? Spill it!
I was having a clearance probelm with the blower outlet pipe with the crank pulley and the front sway bar. The guys at JDM made some modifications and firgure out the best way to do it without major re-piping or doing a rad support with a sway bar delete... which isnt a good idea for handling. Ill take pics of what they did tomm

Well at least it's not anything too serious... Some minor modifications can fix clearance issues. Glad to hear it's nothing with the motor.

Yea I dont have any of that. LB, do you have stock height motor mounts to clear the frpp manifold with that STB??

What exactly are you running? I would like to remove my front sway sometime for better weight transfer to the rear....

Yeah stock height prothane mounts and clears the frpp manifold easily. I got the 2010 stb off ebay for $75.

I run a upr rad support/sway delete. Drops a good amount of weight and cleared up all kinds of room for my turbo hot side piping and the coldside piping.

I have the steeda light weight brace so i can still run the sway bar, but it's easily removed to save the weight. Then i have GMS subframe connectors and an mm 6 point cage.

Ok well, I just spoke to JDM again and the car is just about done.... Im leaving in about a hour and a half to pick her up.... Funny thing is, Jim forgot it has a 302E and thought he had to shut it down due to making to much power on the stock internals lol. I just reminded him that he doesnt have to worry about that so there should be new numbers.... He shut the car down at 540-550whp...... Also, looks like I have to get a heavier BOV spring. Im pulling -23hg -24hg at crusing speed and right now the BOV will chrip from time to time. It has the 11 psi spring or -22hg so its being slightly pulled open when the car is just crusing...
Ill know more in afew hours :beerdrink:

Nice!! looks like we will be making about the same power with different routes of getting there. Get some vids of that thing. Congrats on the car.

If you ever want your sway bar back then you can do an oil filter relocation kit. There are several ways to get that pipe between the frame and sway bar but none of them had enough clearance for me. Even when I was able to get it in there, it would not line up with the blower very well(and yes I tried clocking the blower several ways.) When I did the oil filter relocation, there was plenty of room. AND NICE NUMBERS!!

I knew there was a better way, I just cose to try to jam everything under that hood lol. I can clean it up here or there too... That first # was with the rev set down lower because he thought it was too much boost any higher. JimIII went back out and told Sr he can turn the rev back up since I have a 302E under the hood which should get another 30-40whp :beerdrink: Sr thought the car was still on the stock block/internals lol
Few more hours and Ill know for sure.... Been awhile since Ive been this excited with this car

Thats not a problem on your blow thru maf setup, dont get a heavier spring. Its ok if its slightly open while cruising or idling.

Look foward to the final numbers, what rpm did it make 550 at?

I did the oil relocation kit on mine and there is definetly more room, plus you can use the big FRPP oil filter instead of those tiny things.

Ok heres the final numbers.... They came in much lower then expected. We could have went for more but JimII felt it was better to leave it here as I have to firgure out the BOV spring issue... LB, Ill need your head for this one...

541whp 483wt @ 16 psi

Now for the BOV spring issue...... Turns out my car is capable of pulling
-25hg while crusing say at 60 mph so that meens my bov is nearly wide open so I get this fluttering noise pretty much all the time when Im on the gas. Honestly, I think theres something wrong with the BOV as it will still flutter at even -15hg with a 11 psi spring.... Idk, someone chime in...

Those numbers seem pretty low to me for 16 psi. What cams you running?

Im not sure why the BOV being open is even a problem? Does JDM not like that setup?

I have an 8lb spring in mine and it opens around 15-17" vacuum with no fluttering that I've heard. My bov is mostly open when cruising, but the moment I put the pedal down it will snap shut. Maybe try an 8lb spring like Im using since we have similar vacuum numbers...

My car at warm idle pulls 22". When cruising in gear(and off the gas) vacuum will increase as rpm's increase.
