Hello, I did some searching for this issue both here and on google in general. I have a 2014 track pack GT with a Vortech V3-si kit on it. It was installed and tuned by Vortech at their Oxnard facility.
I really have two issues. First is that when cold, if I turn on the A/C the car will simply die unexpectedly. If I let it warm up first this doesn't happen. Im not sure if this is a tuning issue or if it is common with centrifugal superchargers.
My second issue is, when doing a full throttle pull, around 5000 rpm there is noticeable drop in power between 5000 and around 5600 RPM after that the power seems to come back all the way to redline. Again I don't know if this is common because of the variable cam timing or if there may be an issue elsewhere.
I have no other mods and the tune and kit are untouched from what Vortech did on install. Id like to know if these are just the little hickups that i need to learn to deal with when having this mod or if I should contact Vortech to pursue a solution. Any help is appreciated.

Both sound like tuning issues to me as I haven't had any of those problems with my novi.

Yes It sounds like a tuning issue. My V3 doesn't have any of those issues. The stock Vortech tune leaves a lot on the table. Try a tune from one of the more reputable tuners out there. You will be amazed at the difference.

agreed it sounds like a tuning issue.

IDK who tunes for Vortech - however get a experienced tuner to get you a tune and I'd bet you'll have a better power, driveablity and those issues will be gone.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get vortech to iron out the issues for now because I purchased their powertrain warranty when I got the kit. But once the warranty expires I plan to find a good tuner (hopefully local) to pick up what they left on the table.

How long has it been since the install and dyno? I know when you first get the car that it's difficult to find the problems since you are excited due to the new upgrades so do you believe that these issues have been there since you picked it up?

I assume since it's warrantied with them that there are no upgrades other than the blower? Do you have the dyno graph from when you picked the car up? You'll probably see the dip there

I picked the car up from Vortech on April 16th and drove it from Oxnard CA to Las Vegas for the mustang 50th bash. I haven't made any further mods to the car due to wanting to preserve the warranty. I also haven't had many opportunities to do full throttle blasts through 4th and 5th gears, but when i have the surge always happens. No dyno graph, the engineer said he'd email it to me but that hasn't happened yet.

I know the warrenty thing is very important to you. However so you know I have been on a V3 install and lund tune for over 20k miles now and have absolutely no issues. I chose to have Ken tune my car very conservatively and don't beat the ever loving shit out of it. Never had a reason to take the car in for any repairs related to this install. I drive the car every day and would have no issues with a long distance trip. I did have the dealer verify everything was in tip top shape prior to having the V3 installed and have never looked back since.

I got ahold of Vortech Thursday and am expecting a call from their tuner on Monday. I suppose I will see what they can do before looking at other options.

That's about 500 miles from me. I'm in the SF bay area. But if they're that good I can probably talk the girlfriend into a long weekend trip. Or use a vacation day or two.

Finally was able to make it to vortech and get some issues addressed with my car. There were some idle issues that they took care of for me and the dip in power seems much smaller now. I did get the original dyno sheet from them but there isn't a dyno sheet for this last visit. The power levels look low to me but I've read that, that can be the case depending on the dyno.
