OTA pipe removal help

Any tips on removing these bastards? I put the car as high as the jackstands would go and then let the axle hang down. The passenger side hits the drive shaft and the drive side is getting snagged on the panhard bar brace. Any tips? I think if I disconnect the driveshaft at the rear end I could get it out but Ive never done them on this car before. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

just keep twisting and wiggling. maybe put the stands on blocks of wood to give yourself a little more room.

It's almost impossible to get them out if you're not on a lift. You just can't get the car high enough to get the needed angle. As posted you just have to keep trying to twist them until it clears. If you disconnect the shocks you can get the rear to drop lower for a little help.

I jack the front higher than the rear to give the pipe more drop, then just keep wiggling and you can see how they'll come out. Kinda need to twist them to the "inside" also ..

Believe it or not, they will come out really easy once you figure out how to get em' out, However, the 1st time is a beech.

Thanks guys! Im hoping Ill never have to redo them again. I just ordered some new Pypes OTA pipes since the factory ones were welded to the axle back.

I disconnected the rear shocks and just got the car as high as possible. The pipes just kinda wiggle right out. Not fun, but very possible.

I've gotten them out on jackstands, stare at it for a while and you will see which way you should twist and turn.

I've done it at least 3 times on both sides they fall right out with a couple of twists towards the inside of the car, then point outwards then back in to loop it over the axle, I really have no way of describing the angles to you but they will come out on jackstands.

+1...but, then you gotta get the new pipes back in! Knowing how you get them out can help you work them back in. When I did mine, I disconnected the driveshaft at the rear end, lol, for one side (passenger, I think). The other side came out fairly easy...all on jackstands.

I'm going to be doing the driveshaft I believe. 5 minutes to save myself who knows how long will be worth it!
