Well, my factory 6-speed started having trouble over the weekend with the 3rd gear synchro. While I had initially planned on sticking with the TR6060 until the motor comes out for my twin turbo build, I really didn't want to go to the trouble of repairing it now and spending the money on a new clutch and putting it back in the car considering the future plans that I have. I had really wanted to get my ETs down a little bit more with the 6 speed (best 1/8 mile ET of 6.63 and best 60ft of 1.47), but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I'm sure there will be a little criticism about my choice of transmissions, but after much thought, this seemed like the best choice, as it will hold up to my future goals. Plus, it was readily available.

The converter is custom built by Bradco Engineering. The flexplate and bellhousing should arrive tomorrow. I know this is a long shot, but I'm still in need of a driveshaft if anyone just happens to have one lying around that was built for this application.

Nice man. That should be reliable and stout. Probably best to have a ds custom built for your application.

What he said.

You won't hear me bitching about putting a Power Glide in your Mustang. Hell, the Chebby peeps put Ford rear ends in their cars all the time....

Hey Ju know Main what you doin with that Chebby trabmission?

Just kidding, its the stoutest drag racing transmission known to man....and will accomodate the car to whatever level of power you plan on running all the way deep into the 6's if that was your plan.

Our tube chassis mustang has a pg and it's been 6.80's at 205.....it's the way to go if you make the lots of power. Reliable and cheap as hell to rebuild if needed, plus there a literally thousands of differnt ratio's/converter set up's you can do with a pg.

Reading comprehension owns some people.

You are one of those people....because no where prior to my post did he say that he was building a 1600 HP turbo car. He actually posted that his personal best in the car to date is only a 6.63 1/8 mile, which doesn't come close to justifying a power glide in that car.

I never said that it's not a nice, fast car. It most definitely is. I've made the mistake of putting non-OD transmissions in former manual trans street cars. It just makes them boring.

Sorry for breaking up your thread....I just felt a need to respond to this moron.

If you want a glide, go for it....but if you do not plan on making that 1600 HP anytime soon, I'd go with a transmission that would keep it fun to drive until you do. If you went 6.6's on a 6-speed, I'm making the assumption that you enjoyed driving the shit out of the car. You will no longer be able to do that with this transmission like you are used to.

Thanks,

-Will

Again it owns you, This is from his OP:

I bolded the part you did not fully comprehend when you read....I italicized the important part.

He did say he was building a turbo car.....he did not say 1600 HP. Big difference chief.

I'm done here, my intent was not to trash this guy's thread. I have offered my honest thoughts from my experience.
