No I didn't spring for that. Maybe I should have, but I have so many other things to get. I called Kaase today and the heads where going out today, so hopefully the motor will get started here pretty soon.

Took out the spare tire well today:

Mocked up the 6061 aluminum brackets I had cut to size. This is what it will look like underneath, I just placed the fuel cell on top, but it actually will be on the other side--where all you will see in the trunk is just the sheet aluminum. The big bracket to the right of the fuel cell is where I am going to mount the Aeromotive A2000 pump and filter. The L brackets on each end will be bolted to the frame--as required by the NHRA rulebook.

The fuel cell is powdercoated black and has two outlets, a rollover checkball vent, and a return line. I am also using all grade 8 bolts, as last time I attached some ballast to the frame with grade 5 bolts-- the tech guys REALLY did not like that, at all.

Here it is mocked up without the aluminum sheet metal in place. Going to do that tomorrow. Once the aluminum sheet is in place, you won't be able to see any of the brackets unless your under the car. The arrows below show how I am going to bolt everything to the frame.

What did the cut out spare tire well weigh? Awesome rear end. Ive got a Currie 9" as well for i think 3 years now. Hasn't given me one ounce of trouble except some leaking oil which is resolved with these new bearings i got.

Not very much, but I didn't weigh it so I don't know for sure. The weight savings was actually removing the stock fuel tank---which completely empty was 35lbs by iteself. If I had to guess, the spare tire well was maybe 10lbs or so---it is pretty thin metal.

Talked to Jon Kaase Racing today---my P51 heads went out today, and I ordered a custom nitrous cam (which still will run good N/A)

.780 lift on intake and exhaust, duration 274 @ .050 intake, 280 @ .050 exhaust on a 112 lobe center. Note that those duration numbers are not the "advertised" number, which is meaningless as how that is computed changes from manufacturer to manufacturer. But duration @.050 is just that, no matter who's camshaft you go with.

Just for comparison, the Comp Cams Stage III cam for our 4.6 3Vs (max effort street cam) has duration @.050 of 237 intake and 244 exhaust.

The T&D shaft mount rockers, the crower solid roller lifters, valve covers, etc should all be coming in next week.

Oh and I finished putting in the 9 inch rearend tonight. Everything fit perfect--I highly recommend Currie if you ever want to go with a 9-inch Ford rearend. All I have to do is finish mounting the stock brakes tomorrow.
