griggs sells those wheels and a kit to make the 315's fit with their sla set up
That car may have a different offset wheels or front spacers for various reasons. Those look like they are coming out of the fender still. Too wide for my taste. Im sure you get hella massive grip.
I think the only way to pull it off is an SLA setup
I asked about fitting the 315s as I'm already running 285/40/18s all round on 9.5 inch rims and have a slight rub on the left inner fender on full lock and so wondered what it took to get 315s on.
If your worried about rubbing..even SLA cars have racks with limited travel so as not to rub at full lock.I asked about fitting the 315s as I'm already running 285/40/18s all round on 9.5 inch rims and have a slight rub on the left inner fender on full lock and so wondered what it took to get 315s on.
What did it take to get 10.5 rims and 315 tires to fit on the front?
I guess you have to get the room somehow....which on a non sla car would mean moving the wheel/tire to the outside.Yep SLA and the right offset. You'll also need to add stops to the steering rack. Those front wheels are the wrong offset which is why they're sticking out.

i think wrong offset is a very subjective statement... pulled fenders should fix the slightly aggressive fitment issue
The rims halves I received were incorrect for my application (I'm running GT500 brakes right now). Jonbloed is shipping me the correct rims which will move the tires inboard at least 1/2". With the Griggs SLA I have about 1" of clearance right now. It will all fit under the fender once corrected.
Ordered 5zigen FN01R-C 18x9.5, +35mm in matte black today, along with a set of 275/35-18 Hoosier R6 tires. Confirmation on clearing the Brembo brakes came direct from 5zigen...
They actually fit bbks?? How much $$? I've seen the 18s for around 2 bills a piece before. The reason I'm pissed is because I just installed my steeda black pentars cause I destroyed the tires on my 17s earlier than expected and decided it wasn't worth it to buy another same size set if I'm running brembos or stoptechs next year. For $180 a piece shipped, I can't complain too much, but they sure as fuck ain't light. Although, they do look fuckin' sinister on my silver car. The car is a tad more sluggish with the taller and heaver rim/tire combo judging by how my buddy's Z06 pulled a little on me on the straights (we were dead even with previous setup), but the extra grip was worth 1.5 seconds on my home track. So I'm happy fer now. But damn I want light/expensive wheels. Just can't justify $300+ per rim at the moment...or ever really. That is untill I drive one with light wheels, I guess.Well, I'll let you know for sure second weekend in October... As you know, I have the Brembos sitting on the floor, and the FN01's got drop-shipped to Havoc Motorsports for installation of a nice sticky set of Hoosier R6's, 275/35, so I actually haven't seen them, nor will I until 10/2 when I hit Putnam. The day after I get back, I'll test fit them with the Brembos...
I got them from Discount, on a price match (info withheld as a courtesy), but it was significantly cheaper than $300 each. The guy at Discount (Brad, x51859) called 5zigen to confirm fitment, and was told that it would be NO PROBLEM with the +35 offset. That wheel is designed to clear the Brembo setup on the Evo, which is the same diameter rotor and same caliper spacing, so...
I know it's not a completely accurate estimation, but I do have a set of 17x9.5, +35mm rims with the stock tire size on them (Dunlop Wintersport M3s: 500 miles on them and for sale if anybody is interested), and there wasn't even a hint of fender clearance issues. With my +50 rims, and 285/40 rubber, it looks like it might be tight with the additional 15mm of offset, but in theory the tires would be a little narrower (5mm on the outside edge) so the net change would only be 10mm, which should clear. I think. I hope.
Before I can make the jump to the Brembos, I have to get a street wheel that will clear as well, so here is my thinking: IF the +35 clears the front, and hangs out too much in back, I'll just get a set in +45 for the rears, and swap the rubber around. +35 front, +45 rear offsets for both street and track, and all is good. If the rears clear, then I might get a set of GT500 wheels (Same price as the Pentars, probably the same weight, too), OR I might get another set of FN01's. More info and pix after I actually lay eyes on them...
Would you ever use a D.O.T R-spec tire on the street like a NT01 ?
I had Nt01s on for 10-12 track days AND 8k miles of street use with a agressive front alignment.Would you ever use a D.O.T R-spec tire on the street like a NT01 ?
I had Nt01s on for 10-12 track days AND 8k miles of street use with a agressive front alignment.
Still had 30-35 % remaining when i sold them.
IMHO if you don't do alot of street driving (not a commute car) and don't plan on rain/snow driving then maybe.
R888 or Nt01s FTW.
Not a bad tire...but they are older tech and according to Nitto IIRC they are being phased out as the Nt01 is gonna be taking their place. How about Nitto 555RIIs for track use and only driving back and forth to the track? They have a bit more tread than the Nitto NT01s and so I would feel a little more comfortable getting caught in the rain on the way home?
