Ok guys I am having a problem... I am replacing my rearend with the unit out of the FR and I can't get the rear UCA out. I have everything out but the UCA is still attached to the rearend I just took the 3 chassis bolts out. It seams that the fuel tank is holding the chassis bracket someway. I picked up some Torx bits to loosen the straps to lower the tank a smidg but I was told that a reg T50 bit won't fit it is oversize or somthing? Any advice before I take a torch an completely rip the fuel tank out and put a cell in the trunk. :mad2:

Ford uses a special Torx, but I did mine with a friends's Snap-On T50 as the T50 I had wouldn't work. But my friends Torx socket was not the Ford "special" Torx socket. If you try to buy that one socket, it will not be cheap. I think it depends on the maker of the Torx socket.. Find a friend who has a different brand Torx than you. If you wanted to, you could do whatever it takes to get that bolt out without worrying about saving it. Find a bolt of proper strength, thread pitch, length and diameter and just replace it with a hex head. I didn't need to do that though. You have to loosen the tank straps and let it drop a couple inches. I lowered the tank via the strap/strap bolts on both sides. IIRC, I lowered the driver's side more than the passenger side because the UCA chassis bolt comes out in that direction.

Just got off the phone with the Snap on guy and it's 80 bucks and a week out. I will take my chance with what I have. Yea I searched and that's how I found out about the special bit but I didn't know if anyone has taken it out without dropping the tank.

You willing to sell that bit if this won't work?

Actually if you want to borrow it I'm down, I think there may be other people on here that need it as well.
We can pass it around.

I just removed my UCA using 7 mm Allen socket. Fits very fine to strap bolts.
