I feel like a jack ass posting these minor updates but i get really excited when i work on my own car now a days and i have to share it. Im going to make it a point from here on out to put in some REAL hours at night on this thing every week at least a few days a week until its done. After going to Hyperfest and hanging out with Stew and all the bros(and hearing nothing but V8s) i am really itching to get this thing done.
Also, we seemed to have lost Ray's sweet Nikon camera i always used. So now i am just uploading pics right from my phone to my facebook so i can just hotlink them....
So.... tonight i made the shroud for the heat exchanger....
feeling it out...
trimmed out and nut-serted....
tabs welded to cooler and BAM... its on there...
That was the time i spent on it tonight. HAHA... this is why my car isnt done. Everything i do takes forever.
But!!!!.... i have been doing some other lil stuff to it...
Put the motor in for GOOD this time. Ray helped me yank it out and modified the end of the headers with V-bands, hammered the tunnel a lil bit for header clearance and then put some sweet reflective gold film on the underside of the tunnel/ firewall. Then i bolted the lower intake on, the intercooler, supercharger, fuels rails and injectors...
We had to adapt this 90mm round BMI Racing Throttle Body on to our oval super charger inlet. I started making this "elbow/ adapter" deal using a flange from Ross Machine for the TB and the one i made earlier for the blower inlet. It was a pain in the ass and its not even done. I started it and then Ray wanted in on the action so he put a lil bit into it also. Prolly finish that up soon and have Mark polish it up for us...
BMI is the team that i drive the 4-Rotor Mazda RX8 for(
http://www.bmiracing.net/). Before Adam and Sara came over to the USA they owned and operated Billet Machine Industries (hence the BMI). They made some pretty awesome billet parts like throttle bodies, fuel rails and even Billet LS1 valve covers. They still have plenty of stock as far as i know so if anyone is interested ill see if can get my hands on some more. I believe they have some listed on ebay out of Aus. Anyway, the TB looks AWESOME as you can see...
Here is the elbow mocked up locating the BIG ol BMI Throttle Body...
Also wanted to show off the steering angle from these ASDMotorsports.com steering knuckles. Its pretty nuts!!! the tire is actually hitting the control arm right now so ill have to space out the wheels(borrowed wheels on the car right now), but i think the rack will run out of travel any way. Pretty impressive stuff and i HIGHLY suggest anyone that drifts an S197 Mustang gets a set of these! You can also see the custom tie rod ends we made with some heims and bolts and stuff, nothing special....
Well thats it for now. Lets hope i carry this momentum into the next month or two til this thing is DONE!
