great build, everything looks great almost like a frankenstein with the terminator first body s197 with new s197 front end.... my only question is how did you convert the fascia to a 2010 look???

all the pics should be up if you read back through the thread. Its probably not something most street car guys would do. You could make the head lights work without making a new core support too if you chopped some stuff up. No matter what though the body lines wont line up.

WOW. im speechless. awesome build and i know you are ready to enjoy it!!

Thanks, you have no idea how bad i want this thing to be done. I havent done much to it recently. I plumbed half the fire supression and i sold my old Yamaha project so now i can buy all the AN fittings i need.

More updates in the next week or two hopefully.

Also wanted to show off the steering angle from these ASDMotorsports.com steering knuckles. Its pretty nuts!!! the tire is actually hitting the control arm right now so ill have to space out the wheels(borrowed wheels on the car right now), but i think the rack will run out of travel any way. Pretty impressive stuff and i HIGHLY suggest anyone that drifts an S197 Mustang gets a set of these! You can also see the custom tie rod ends we made with some heims and bolts and stuff, nothing special....

Well thats it for now. Lets hope i carry this momentum into the next month or two til this thing is DONE!

Is there a way you can shim the steering rack to actually limit your travel with these things?

Peetie,

that picture would be better if it was 2 black mustangs smoking sideways wouldnt it?!

as for the rack limiting, do you mean if you wanted to reduce the amount of steering angle it has? Yes you can just put a lil bumper/ stopper thing between the rack and the inner tie rod.

Yes!

Also Brian do you have any advice as far as setting up a mustang for drift, either from your own experience or from JR's car? I did my first event in the mustang this weekend and it's not quite there. I do have some things i need to upgrade in order to get it to hwere i want it to be such as sway bars and some track wheels.

I have had no time or money to put into this project as of recent. Im going to order up some masters for my Wilwood pedals tomorrow or so. Then i should be able to plumb the entire car including whats left of the fuel system. Not sure when ill be able to do it though....

=/

Trust me though, when something happens ill be eager to share it with you all.

Extending the upper control arm is nothing new. Steeda sells a lengthened upper CA as does Kenny Brown. The longer upper CA controls hop better especially under braking. The stock upper causes instabilty under hard braking due to it's short length.

The 11' upper control arm was redesigned longer and the 05-10 upper CA's will not fit the 2011 model because of this.

EDIT: I see what you're saying, should have read the entire article first. If you're talking about the widening of the lower control arms yeah that is pretty wicked. I wonder if thats to accomodate the increased steering angle or tire fitment?
