Brian,

First off, great write-up. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product. Hope it all works out for you...

Can you please share with me (us) the source for the carbon fiber or fiberglass doors? I would like a pair for my race car but have not been able to locate any. Hood, fenders and deck lid too if you have. No hurry, I would just like to find a good source or two.

Thanks... Frank

Brian, know you sold it, but have you a clue about how much the spare tire section of the trunk weighed when you cut it out?

If you are referring to the sheet metal tire sump , it is little to nothing. I removed mine and although I didn't weigh the parts the sheet metal was about the same as the aluminum I put back . The main weight lose for me there was the evap crap.

Damn. I guess when it comes down to the nitty gritty, every ounce counts. Mine will forever be a street car atmost.

Yeah, I read a good part of it and scanned the rest. I also searched for the word "door" and didn't come up with any hits. I'll look a little closer...

They are referring to you telling Brian goodluck with completing it. He sold the car....

the doors ill be getting are old fiberglass seibons that they no longer make(they only make carbon now, i think*). I know with nissans and other cars we have done fiberglass doors on even without the internal parts a fiberglass door is much lighter than a metal door, especially considering the lack of side impact beams in the fiberglass doors. I will not be running ANYTHING in the door except the oem latch mechanism so i can open the door from the inside.

Why isn't Seibon making FG doors anymore? Just a dollars and cents thing or was there an issue with the construction? The S197 doors are pretty light when stripped. I wouldn't recommend anyone using those without a cage bar. FG crumples or snaps as CF without any reinforcement

No clue, but I'd bet they're shifting their entire business to carbon to placate ricers. I have no experience with them or purchasing from them, however.

Agree 100% on that one.

they have very high quality carbon fiber products. i have a couple friends who have purchased from them. never heard any complaints or problems, and the weave was really nice looking as well as the finish on all the parts i've seen.

Yeah i think the Seibon stuff is pretty nice honestly. Glad to see this thread still kicking!

i have all the body parts from this car FOR SALE!

this includes:

2 pairs of Seibon FG doors(one pair has the body line modded to blend in with 2010 front)

complete oem black metal 2010 front body panels!!!!

seibon fiberglass trunk lid

i also have a bunch of metal doors like the black ones that came on this car.

otherwise it has all been sold except the long block which i would REALLY like to sell. If any of you know any Cobra guys looking for a replacement this motor would be perfect.

thanks everybody! I wish i would have finished this thing too. I will however be finishing it for my friend who i sold the car to. IF he is ok with it ill post the pictures of the progress in here as we move on with it.

here is a pic of another s197 we have been working on. Its a demo car and we are freshening it up and making some changes/ upgrades for the 2011 season...
