FINALLY got them hooked up yesterday. Tapped into the blue wire w/ the yellow stripe under the center console for key'ed power.

Working great!

Oil reads 60-80 PSI when cold, 60 PSI when hot except for idle, where it reads 25. Looked it up and that seems normal for these engines. As soon as you touch the gas it goes back up over 40 PSI.

Water is another story. As the engine's warming up, it reads within 5 deg of the OBDII. But once it gets up to full operating range, it reads about 20 deg higher than what the OBD II thinks it should be. I wonder if that's because the gauge's sensor is tapped into the thermostat housing, or if maybe there's an air pocket near the sensor?

Sitting at a stop light I see the gauge climb up to 220 and the warning light comes on, but the PCM says it hit a max of like 203. I've seen it drop a few times at the stop light either from the fan finally kicking on or maybe the air pocket disperses.

I know i have to get in to the radiator fan and look at the connector and/or resistor since the fan doesn't kick on with the A/C like it normally should. But now I've got an intercooler to deal with to get to it.

Actually just found a good discussion here from back in the day (2009) on putting the temp sensor up by the crossover/ tstat gives higher readings

I recently found a document in the Mercedes workshop manual. It says that the water temp in the dashboard is linear up to thermostat temperature of 90°C, then it stops until water reaches 110°C. It jumps to 110° and when it reaches 116° a warning comes up. So, it is fake. I wounder if Ford is doing the same.
And, Ford calculates the water (and oil) temp from the cylinder head temperature sensor.
